As promised, I headed over to the stables to see the prince waiting for me. For once, he didn't look stiff. He was wearing jeans and a t-shirt, as well as riding boots. "I'm here, Your Highness," I emphasize the last word, and he chuckles softly. "You do realize you don't have to call me that, darling," he gently takes my hand, but I pull back and lightly hit him. "What was that for?" he asked in pretend pain. "You know I don't like it when you call me darling!" I exclaim. "Ah, I forgot," he laughs. "Anyway, what should I call you?" I wonder. "Evan will do just fine," he takes my hand again, and walks me over to the stalls. "Which horse is yours?" he motions toward all the horse heads peeking above the stall doors. "This one," I answer, walking over to a black horse with a white star and two white socks. "She's stunning," he strokes her muzzle. I grin and ask him which horse is his. He leads me over to a blue roan horse. "This is Daybreak," he proclaims. I tell him that I love the name, and I go over to stroke the horse. We tack up our horses, and head over to a trail.
"So, do you still hate being here?" he playfully shoves my arm. "Hmm, let me think, uh... yes," I respond, rolling my eyes. "Aw, that's too bad, cause I'm planning to keep you here for a while," he laughs. "Great, 2 whole years of absolute royal nonsense!" I exclaim. We laugh and talk for a while before finally heading back inside. "I have to admit... that was fun," I say. "I knew it would get to you," Evan smiles. "So, um, how about we can be friends... but not boyfriend/girlfriend, kay?" I compromise. I watch Evan as he thinks. "I think that will be great," he responds.
I go back into my dorm to find Aurelie at her desk. "Whatcha doing?" I ask. "Mah omerk," she mumbles. "What?"
"Math homework"
"Oh, I still need to do that. When's it due?"
"Umm, tomorrow."
"Oh my God! Aren't I so prepared!" I exclaim to myself and sit down at my desk. I pull out my textbook and flip a hundred and something pages. When I finish, I take a shower and wrap a towel around myself. "Listen, Bree. I'm going to hang out with the two visitors, Duke Steven and Duchess Amelie. I'll be back at around 10:00 ish" Aurelie tells me. "Mhm," I nod while brushing my teeth.
Around 10 minutes later, I'm putting my wavy brown hair into a messy bun and trying to finish an essay about early presidents. I hear a knock at my door, and I realize I'm still in my robe. "Gosh darn it" I complain, and quickly put on some NIKE shorts and the Paris top. I open the closet and look deeper to see many nightgowns and dresses. "Ugh," I say, and close the door. "I hate dresses."
"Um, hello? Is anyone in there?" I hear a masculine voice say. Oh, wait... it's the prince. "Yeah, wait one sec!" I answer, shoving some slippers onto my feet. I open the door a tiny bit and I see Evan. His hair is sticking out in some places, which makes him look extra adorable. WAIT- HOLD UP!! I don't even like him! Get it together, Bree! I look at him. "May I come in, darling?" he asks politely. "Um, no, cause you just called me darling," I shake my head, which makes my bun undo itself. My hair flies everywhere and cascades down my back. "Wow," he whispers. "Heh, sorry 'bout that," I blush, super embarrassed. I try to retrieve the hair tie, but I can't seem to find it. Oh well. "One minute, lemme go get a hair tie... be right back," I excuse myself to go into my restroom. When I finally get one, I turn around to see him looking at me. "Umm, I don't think I ever invited you to come into my bathroom," I start to shove him out. He laughs, and walks out. "So, what were you going to tell me?" I ask, resting my chin on my hand. "Would you like to hang out with me at the Bowling Alley?" he says. "As a date?" I question. He wiggles his eyebrows in response, which makes me laugh. "I'll take that as a yes. See you there!" he kisses my hand and walks out without even waiting for my response.
I fall asleep before Aurelie returns, and I think to myself: "Oh God, what did I just get myself into?"
