I hear faint talking and then a warm hand placed on mine. "Brianna! Brianna!" a voice says. "Wake up! Please wake up! Please..." it pleads. I want to tell it that I'm okay, that I can hear what it's saying. That I'm alive... but I can't. "Your Highness, I suggest you prepare for the worst," a different voice warns. "Do something!" the other voice says. "I'm afraid we've done all that's possible, without risking her life even more."

Oh, the prince is talking.

"How am I supposed to tell her family! How am I supposed to explain this to my parents! How am I going to announce that one of the contestants just died to the entire country!"

"I'm very sorry, Your Highness... but it's now just up to her. If she wants to fight, she will."

I then hear a pause, and I can hear footsteps slowly fading away. But Evan's hand is still on mine. He leans down and says, "Please, I wanted to tell you today that right when I met you, I knew you were the one... I loved the fact that you were different... that you weren't just a girl who was head-over-heels for me. Please, fight for me. I love you," he whispers the last three words. That's when I realized how much Evan meant to me. At first, I didn't believe in love... but once I met him, I realized that love exists. And, I would even sacrifice myself for him. I decided to fight. I would fight for him. For my family. For my friends. I just needed to live.

I make a final effort to open my eyes, and soon, light floods into my vision. "Bree!" Evan exclaims, tears flooding out. "I hope those are happy tears," I manage to say. "Shhh... save your energy," he soothes, stroking my hair. "I'm fine," I manage, and attempt to sit up. Immediately, I realize my center of balance is off, and I almost collapse. Evan shakes his head, worried, but helps me up. However, when I do sit up, his face is stern.

"Why didn't you tell me what Marabelle was doing?!!" he yells. I immediately start to cry. He catches himself, and apologizes. "I shouldn't have been so upfront."

"It's fine... I get that you're worried... but it was my fault," I confess. "No, it wasn't. Apparently, Laurenna was watching, and when you fell after getting punched, she rushed over to me and told me exactly what happened. It was my decision to kiss you, so it's my fault," he says, squeezing my shoulder. "Oh, so now you're blaming yourself, huh?" I asked, lightly elbowing him. "I mean... all of you girls are technically under my supervision... and I let one of you guys get punched. You almost DIED!" he screamed, breaking under all the stress. I tried to comfort him by patting his shoulder, but I knew it wasn't helping. I knew what he wanted, and I was going to give it to him.

I leaned in and pressed my lips against his. He was shocked for a minute, but then pulled me in closer. "Y'know... I heard what you said when I was almost dead..." I smirked, and he blushed profusely, but then he spoke, "Well, what I said was true, Bree. The moment I saw you... I knew you were different." Sincerity shone through his eyes.

"Wait... so you like that at first I hated you?" I ask. "I do. And I would never change anything about you, because you're perfect just the way you are," he says, kissing my cheek. "I wouldn't change a thing about you either," I agree. I peck him on the lips with a kiss, but when I pull away, he frowns. "Is that all I get?" he pretends to be offended. "Do you want more?" I ask, teasing him. Before he can answer, I kiss him hard on the lips, wanting his presence. He seems to sense that I seek more, so he kisses me back. Soon, both of our arms are around each others' necks, and we're kissing passionately.

"I love you," I whisper.

"I love you, too."
