After about a week we had a ton of bassists that wanted to audition. Some responded to the add in the paper while we ran into us at bars. All and all we have thirteen bass players auditioning for us.

Thirteen is a good number for us, I mean all of us met at on the thirteenth of June. So hopefully this will work out in our favour. I mean depending on how much you think about it, thirteen could be out lucky number when everyone says it's unlucky. I think it just proves the whole us against the world thing.

Our manager let us use the bar during the day to be able to hold the auditions because, well, our neighbours really really hate us already and bass riffs shaking the foundation of the houses well I think that we'd get evicted.

The first few bassist play and they're good but nothing all that special. That's about the time that the bar door opens again and in walks my wonderful boyfriend Tommy. I smile upon seeing him.

"I heard you were looking for a real drummer." Tommy says and I flip him off. He mocks hurt. "Oh break me, babe."

He pulls me up and sits down in my chair before pulling me into his lap. Tommy kisses my cheek and wraps his arms around me.

"I'm helping." He says in my ear.

"Tommy, remember we need Darcy's mind here." Rose says.

"No Tommy-land." Jade mocks with a laugh and Tommy chuckles.

"What the hell is Tommy-land, Darc?" He wonders and kisses my cheek. "It sounds amazing though."

"It's where they say my mind goes when I zone out." I say and I feel his smile against my cheek.

"Sounds about right." Tommy jokes and tightens his grip around me.

So the bassist kinda fly by and no one is really memorable. Tommy plays with my fingers under the table and will randomly kiss my neck or my shoulder. One bassist isn't snow up and the other twelve were okay. But--

"They're not Jewl." Jade mutters.

"Jadie, you're the one that said you wanted to replace Jewl." Rose reminds her. "It was the first thing out of your mouth as I remember."

"Ro, it ain't that easy." Jade says. "I thought it was going to be easier replacing one of my own. My flesh and blood, like we share the same DNA."

"Jadie." I say quietly. "We could wait a while. Like it's not like we have studio time or anyth--"

"Darcy, I want to do this." She promises. "We have to do this. We can't play our songs without a bassist."

"Okay, so in that case what bassist are you guys thinking?" Rose asks.

"Well there was Amelia, she wasn't all that bad." Jade says.

"What about Justine?" I ask. "She was good."

"Or Madigan?" Rose asks. "She wasn't Jewl but she was good."

"Or Cynthia?" Tommy wonders. "I mean she was pretty good, like not Nikki but good all the same."

"Yeah, I mean--"

"Excuse me? Is this where the auditions are being held?"

We look up to see a girl with brown hair with a pink streak.  She's small in size but carries her bass with an insane amount of pride. Out from underneath her bangs her blue eyes study my boyfriend.

"Tommy?!" She squeals and my heart nearly stops.

"Dani?" Tommy asks.

I mean this girl is insanely beautiful, like she's prettier than me. Is she Tommy's ex? Like did they have a fling? Or was it serious?

"Uhh, care to introduce us, Tommy?" Rose wonders.

"Yeah, that's Dani--Danika Bradley. She's dating my friend CC, from Poison." He explains and I breathe again. "Dani, this is my girlfriend Darcy, Jade, and Rose. The drummer, the guitarist, and the singer."

"So I guess you're number thirteen, huh?" I ask and she smiles.

"Unlucky." She says as she pulls out her bass.

"I was gonna say the exact opposite." I admit and Jadie and Ro smile.

"Me too."

"Same with me."

Dani is by far the best bassist that audition. She finishes her set and I look over to Rosie and Jadie.

"What do you think, Ro?" Jadie asks quietly. "I like her."

"Yeah." She admits. "Darc?"

"Yeah." I agree and I see Tommy smile out the corner of my eye.

"I like her too." He jokes and I smile.

We look back to Dani and she smiles at us. I smile make at her.

"Definitely lucky number thirteen." I say and she lights up. "Welcome to the band, Dani."

"You're serious?" She asks and we all nod.

Well we've got a band, next stop is a demo!
