Blackout Valentine's Day

When I woke up the house was completely dark which had me confused because I thought it was morning. I sit up and look around to see Tommy sitting up in bed bedside me.

"What time is it?" I ask and rub my eyes.

"Quarter after nine." He says looking at his watch on the bedside table.

"At night?" I ask and he smiles.

"In the morning, babe." Tommy says as thunder rolls across the sky above us and lightning lights up our bedroom. "It's kinda storming out."

"It's like February. What the fuck is Mother Nature smoking?" I ask as I lay back down again and Tommy laughs.

"Some Valentine's Day, huh?" He asks and lays back down beside me.

"Happy Valentine's Day, baby." I say quietly and kiss his lips.

"Happy Valentine's Day, Darcy." Tommy whispers back and I rest my head against his chest. "Going back to bed on me, baby?"

"It's still dark out therefore Darcy still sleeps." I say and he laughs.

"Sweet dreams, baby." He says and I feel him kiss the top of my head.

Darcy falls back asleep quickly which doesn't surprise me much, she does love sleeping. She can sleep through anything and everything too. Thunderstorms, Nikki and Dani getting drunk and playing their basses at three o'clock In the morning. She can sleep in cars, buses, and planes. Darcy makes the ideal rock star, she can catch up on lost sleep literally anywhere.

When she rolls over and faces the other way I pick up the cell phone (that is bigger than my home phone for the record) from the bedside table and dial Dani's cell phone number. I was going to dial Nikki's number but it's still some ungodly hour in his books and I do not want to deal with Princess Nikki who didn't get enough beauty sleep. I get enough of that on tour.

"Hello?" CC answers the phone.

"Hey CC, is Dani around?" I ask.

"It's bad enough for stole Bret's girl, you've gotta steal mine too?" He jokes and I hear Dani hiss something at him. "Dani is making me apologize for that." He admits and I laugh.

"She's got you whipped." I laugh.

"Fuckin' eh." He agrees. "Here's Dani."

"Hey T-Bone, is your power knocked out too?" She asks.

"Yeah, I think it's all over the city. I mean if you look outside everything is dark." I explain. "That's what I was calling about."

"The power being out?" Dani asks.

"Yes. I was going to ask Darcy to marry me today but with the power being wiped out I'm not quite sure how I'm going to do that." I explain. "I went out to the car and listened to the radio for a second, they said the power could be out most of the day if not until tomorrow."

"You were going to do it today? Like ask her to marry you?" She wonders.

I had it all planned out. I know that drive in movies are usually a summer thing but I talked to the owner of this one drive in and he said he'd let me rent it out for today. Darcy and I were going to tour around all day doing whatever came to mind, then when it got dark I was going to drive to the drive in. I had it set up where we would sit on the roof of our car and watch a double feature of The Godfather and Jaws, two of Darcy's favourite movies. But just before the movies started I was going to ask her to marry me. I had everything planed except for Mother Nature being a psycho bitch and dropping a thunderstorm from hell on top of Los Angeles.
