Annoying Girls

Dani and CC got lucky when Anthony was born, he has dark hair and blue eyes. As far as being adopted you wouldn't know it unless you were told. Anthony looks like Dani and CC's child. He's just over four months old and loves to laugh.

"You going to be for Aunt Darcy?" Dani asks as she hands her kid off to me. "I've got to clean his puke off me." She laughs and walks back to the bathroom.

"Hi ankle biter." I say and he grins.

Dani and I are in the waiting room of the OBGYN office and I honestly wish I could say it was for me...Rose and Jade both have doctors appointments today and they're going to find out what gender their babies are. They're both extremely excited to be moms and can't wait for their babies to be here, I'm happy for them.

I'm happy for them. I'm happy for them. I'm happy for them...I am happy for them, right? I mean they're two of my best friends and they're like my family. Of course I'm happy for them but can I be happy and envious at the same time? I mean it seems like all they talk about these days is their baby moved or the baby this and the baby that. I'm not going to tell them not to be happy because they have a right to be. I've never been so heartbroken to see people I love so happy.

I feel horrible about it but I have to spend time away from them. I've been spending more time with Tommy, Mick, Vince, and Nikki because I feel horrible around my friends. I can't tell Rose, Jade, and Dani why I can't hang around with them because I feel stupid as soon as I even think about it. I found myself slipping into this depressive state that is scaring the hell out of Tommy but I can't tell my friends what's wrong because they don't know that Tommy and I are trying to have a baby.

Dani comes back from the bathroom and takes Anthony back. She kisses her baby and sits down beside me again.

"Rosie, Jadie, and I are going to look at baby stuff after this. Want to come with us?" Dani wonders and I force a smile.

"I would love to but I've got plans." I admit and she gives me a look. "With Nikki. We're going to get food and bug Mick." I say and she laughs.

"Bugging Mick is part of your plan?" Dani wonders and I shrug.

"No necessarily but anything could happen." I explain and she laughs.

"Fair enough." She laughs.

Just then Jade and Rose walk into the waiting room holding ultrasound pictures. They're both smiling and on top of the world. My heart breaks a little bit but I smile anyways. They walks up to us and Dani smiles.

"I'm having a boy!" Jade squeals and I smile.

"Me too!" Rosie squeals as well.

"I guess it's up to Darcy to have a baby girl." Dani laughs and I shift.

That stung a little bit, D, not going to lie.

We all walk out to our cars but Nikki is sitting on the hood of my car crisscross applesauce and I laugh. I wave at my band mates and go over to the man whore.

"Red." He greets me with a laugh.

"Man whore." I say but it only makes him laugh harder.

"Your husband thought that it was funny that I was ditching him to meet you." Nikki says and he hops off the hood. "Where to?"

"Food?" I ask and he nods but laughs.

"You and Tommy are definitely a match made in heaven." He laughs and gets into the passenger side.

We drive to a restaurant and get a table. We sit across from each other and he makes a face at me.

"Okay, I'll ask because Vince and Mick are too scared to." Nikki says and I tilt my head.

"Okay." I say confused.

"We love you but why have you been spending so much time with us and not D, Ro, and Jadie?" He wonders and I bite the inside of my lip. "Okay so it's something pretty serious than?"

"Kinda but you have to promise not to tell anyone. Like not even my husband." I say and his eyes grow.

"Okay so is this worse than I thought." Nikki says and repositions himself. "Shoot."

"I'm tired of watching them buy baby stuff and talk about their baby's all while pretending to be happy for them." I admit and he looks at me. "Tommy and I have been trying to get pregnant since the end of August."

"Oh my god really?" He asks and I nod. "They don't know do they?"

"How can I tell them not to be happy?" I ask. "It's just hard to be around all of them right now."

"So it's easier to get drunk with us?" Nikki asks and I nod.

"Like I was the girl that had an array of male friends growing up like I always found girls annoying then I moved in with Rose, Jade, and Jewl and I remembered why I hung around with guys. Now that two of them are knocked up they're hormones are all fucked up and I love them but I really want to punch them in the face." I explain and Nikki laughs.

We finish up eating then I get an absolutely genius idea that Dani is going to love. See her and CC have been fighting back and forth for the path week or so. I have a genius idea to make her laugh and piss off CC.

"This is breaking and entering." Nikki says as we walk into their house.

"I used the spare key." I say and I pull him into the bathroom.

I sit down in the bathtub and and twist the cap off CC's shampoo. I look at Nikki who is leaning against the sink.

"Where's that box of temporary hair dye?" I ask and he looks around.

"Here!" Nikki says and hands the box of purple temporary hair dye to me.

"Thank you." I say and uncap it.

I pour the dye into the shampoo bottle and recap it. I shake it up and put it back on the side of the bathtub. I hop out of the tub and Nikki looks at me.

"Let's go before they come back here." I say and pull him out of the bathroom again.

"He's going to butcher you, Red." He says and I roll my eyes.

"He'd have to go through Tommy first and I'd love to see that." I say with a laugh.
