Chris
The enthusiastic music played, bouncing off the walls of the arena. I'm way too excited to stand still. The cheerleaders stood to the side, hyping up the crowd. The radio broadcaster sounded almost excited as I am. He shouted out the big names in the building.
And when he decided to shout us out, I had to show off. I stood on top of the bench and hit my chest with my two fist. I turned to face the side that supported the Bulldogs, throwing my hands up and they clapped and howled with excitement.
"Alright! Number 5!" The broadcaster chanted. "It's about to be one lit game, you hear me?!"
Then he shouted out the other team: bobcats. I turned around immediately to their side and frowned. Their crowd chanted loudly. I eyed one of them team members and waved my hand in front of my neck and gave him a thumbs down.
"Scott, get down." Coach Johnson instructed. I followed his order and as soon as my feet touch the ground his puts his hand on my shoulder. "See over there." He points. "That's the UCLA coach, along with the best player on the team. This is your time to shine son."
"Gotchu' coach." I smile inward and nod. I'm nervous a little, but it's not really effecting me that much. My confidence overpowers my nerves.
I walked back to our spot, standing next to Thomas. The game is about to start at anytime.
"You ready?" Thomas asked, looking forward.
"Yeah, man." I glanced at him, then looked forward again, watching the cheerleaders. "You?"
"Hell yeah. Our last game together, we gotta' make it memorable."
"Aye bro, don't make a G cry tonight." I chuckle. He laughed and turned to me with his handout. I smile and dabbed him up.
It still didn't hit me that this is the end of my high school basketball career. The small memories of my ninth, tenth, and junior year filled my mind. The reminding memory excited me, making me ready to jump out on the court this minute.
Basketball is the only thing I'm truly loyal too.
I glance at the other team, seeing they're warming up with jumping jacks and push-ups. "They don't even look like competition." I murmur to Thomas. He laughed in response as coach walks towards us.
"Alright boys. Gather around." We stood up and huddled around him. "This is what we've been waiting for, all those times I push you. This is it. Don't mess this up..."
I zone out, scanning the crowd. I see my mom smiling towards me, I wave then shift my eyes towards Miya. Sitting there on her phone, she looks at me mouthing the word "smile." I do as she says and right then my coach snapped his fingers in my face.
I clear my throat and hear him continue on. "We're undefeated, keep that in my mind. Lets take that trophy home..."
My eyes meet Miya's again. She stands up and points at her shirt. "Number 5 baby!" written across it. I point my chin in her direction, biting back my smile.
I pretended to dribble an imaginary ball then holding my hand in front of my lips, shooting Miya a kiss. She caught my kiss and pressed her hand on her cheek. I snickered, this girl...
Alright, focus. Basketball. Signature dunk. Win. Take trophy home.

"Scott with the interception!" The broadcaster chanted. "And- unbelievable another three!"
