Miya

Today is probably going to be a good day. My mood is up high in the clouds, for various reasons. I can feel the vibes of a good day. I combed through my hair then pressed the flat iron to it.

I hear a knock on my door then without permission my mom walks in."Morning princess." She smiles.

"Good morning mom." I said concentrating on flat ironing my hair.

"So uh, I have a few questions..." She walks towards my bed to have a seat. "So yesterday..."

Yesterday, Oh my God. Can I relive that day—night—one more time. "What about it?" I murmur.

"Alright. So first as soon as Chris left you ran upstairs, and you didn't watch the new episode with me like you said you would. Why?" Straight to the point, alright mom.

It would be crazy of me not to clean my bed, after the whole... Y'know. I remember charging upstairs yesterday, I pretended to not hear my mom calling me. Truth be told I did not want to watch any new episode of anything. And the mess I made was just... I never knew I could do all of...

"Okay?" I shrug.

"Second, you took a shower again, when you already took a shower before he even came over. Why?" I watch her from the reflection of my mirror. "Thrid, you changed your sheets. Why?" She's sounds like a detective.

I tuck in my smile and begin to section my hair more, totally ignoring her questioning. Remembering back to Chris and his actions make my knees weak. Everything was so perfect, he's so perfect.

"Miya Janelle  Jackson..." She sings, waltzing to the door. She opens it and sticks her head out then looking back at me with a sly smile she closes the door shut. "You guys had sex?"

I could just die. I roll my eyes. "Mom-"

"I mean, it's kind of obvious." She shrugs. "Well did you?" She smiles.

I look away with red flushing my cheeks.

"Oh my Jesus!" She squeals. "Miya! I don't know whether to scowl you for not waiting until marriage or if I should...I don't know, be excited? No. I should scowl you." She says to herself, tapping her chin. "You know you shouldn't have sinned, waiting until marriage is important." She says in a serious tone, then winks.

"We didn't even really have sex." I said, taking a pause from flat ironing my hair.

"Then what-" she gasps. "Did you-'

"No."

"Did he-"

"No!"

"My God, wait you won't... Did he-"

"Mom! No is the answer to your questions." I say, a little irritated. "I can't explain anything to you, that's embarrassing." I murmur. I'm going to act like I don't know what she's talking about and move about with my day.

She stares at me and within seconds she's snickering. "Growing up, are we?" She says. Then leaves, finally.

I huff and finish up my hair.

"Oh, Miya?" Just when I think I'm at peace.

"Yes mom?"

"I'm going to see if I can get a job at the hair salon, y'know the one I use to always go to?" She asks, and I nod. "Yeah, wish me luck."
