Am I going to regret that I'm pulling an all nighter? Most definitely. My dad is coming back home today, he's still in Washington state. Business trip, the usual. So I don't have to worry about his concerns, and Tracy's not checking up on me
Sitting on a swing at three in the morning is something new. The usual late night call from Chris turned into- well this. Him occupying the swing next to me, munching on a bag of potato chips, while he's telling a crazy story. And I'm listening. Halfway. My mind won't let me forget today's important topic. Mom's moving day. Out of the rehab and into her once home, that's now experienced some changes. I'm no longer a little girl, dad's remarried, and her room that she'll be staying in currently is the guest room.
It's a bittersweet combo. I get to wake up and see my mom every morning. Yet, the awkwardness will just stay in the house all day.
"AND that's why I refrigerate my syrup." Chris rambled, with some crumbs flying out of his mouth. I glared at him and laughed as he nodded. "For real because- you weren't even paying attention, were you?
"Um..." I hummed. "Some what."
He rolled his eyes. "Yeah, aight whatever." He said. He reached his hand into the bag and stuffed some more chips into his mouth.
I smiled and stuck my fingers between my hair. I watched him entirely, as he continued to eat the chips, then finishing them up. He stood up and dusted of his clothes. He caught me staring and smiled, I shifted my gaze.
"Stop looking at me like that." Chris said, using a high pitched tone. "Isn't that how you be like?" He teased.
I laughed over dramatically then fixed my face back to it's normal expression, my attempts of being sarcastic. He nodded and walked away, finding a trashcan to dispose of his bag. When he walked back over to me, he didn't take his seat in the swing. Instead he stood in front of me looking down.
"How are you sitting like that?" He asked, motion to my posture of one foot on the ground and my other on the swing. I shrugged. He pursed his lips and walked around me. "So if I was to push you, would you fall-"
"Don't play with me, Chris." I sneer, immediately changing my posture. I sat normally and eyed him with boat loads of attitude.
He dropped his head, snickering as he took his seat in the swing. "Oh yeah, didn't you say you started on your valedictorian speech?"
"Yeah..."
"Miya?" Chris whined. "Why are you being so... What's the word?" He tapped his chin. "BORING."
