Hanaa's POV
I woke up with the note clutched in my hand. Since I wasn't so sleep deprived, I decided to reread it. As I read it, my face fell. I stormed next tdoor and burst in to the Lynch's house. I saw the whole family seated around the breakfast table.
"Hanaa, come join us for breakfast!" Riker said.
"I need to talk to Ross," I said, smiling sweetly, but secretly giving him a death glare. He got up from the table and followed me to the guest room.
"Uh, what's up Hanaa?" he laughed nervously.
"This," I said calmly. "I can't believe you. I'm dating Riker, why, just why-" I continued, my voice rising as I spoke. I shook the note in his face. I flopped on the bed. "Ugghhh!"
Riker stepped into the room. "I heard yelling. Anything wrong?"
I thrust the note at him. His face turned foul as he read it. "Dude, what the hell?!" he yelled at Ross.
The rest of the band came into the room, lead by Rydel.
"We heard yelling. What's going on," Rydel commanded.
Riker handed her the note and sat down on the bed next to me. As she read it, her face remained expressionless. Then she passed it to Ryland. Ellington and Rocky read over Ry's shoulder.
Rydel gave Ross a death glare.
Rocky gave him a 'What were you thinking?' look.
Ell shook his head and walked out of the room. Ryland followed.
Riker just gave a 'humph'.
"Listen, I'm sor-" Ross started.
"Just don't," Riker cut him off. "I don't want you hitting on my girl. I love Hanaa with all my heart, you knew that, but you do this?!" Riker held up the note. "I can't believe you. My own brother hitting on my girlfriend," he muttered.
Ross left the room, head hung low, and closed the door behind him. Riker flopped back then turned over to wrap his arms around me. I welcomed the embrace. Riker brushed my cheek and I turned, where our lips met. His arms were wrapped around me, my arms curled up into his chest, and we kissed. I pulled back and layed my head in the crook of his neck. He placed his chin on my head.
"Hanaa, I love you with all my heart and soul, and I would never want a girl other than you. You are beautiful and perfect and I love you, despite your flaws. Every inch of you is amazing, and I hope you know that."
My phone started to ring. I just let it ring because it was our song, Go Light Your World by Chris Rice.
"Carry your candle, run to the darkness," Riker sang.
"Seek out the hopeless, confused and torn," I continued.
For the rest of the song, our voices harmonized perfectly. I started to cry as I was singing. Riker took out his iPod and put it on a dock. He started to play the song, then spun me up from the bed and started to slow dance. Just like our prom. He requested this song, and we danced, everyone stopping to watch us spin around the dance floor. It was 4 minutes and 51 seconds of perfection.
When the song was finished, I said to Riker, "You're my candle." He smiled, and I knew he was pleased.
We walked downstairs, hand in hand. In the living room, Riker sat on an armchair and sat on his lap. "Where's Ross?" he asked Rydel.
"He went out," she answered.
Riker nodded and clicked on the TV. Suddenly, my phone started to ring again. I picked it up and answered. "Hello?"
A voice on the other end asked if it was Hanaa Parker speaking.
"Yes, how may I help you?" I asked.
"I'm ER nurse Kristinne Banks. Your friend Livvie Solmoch asked me to call you. Um... she and Rocky Lynch are here."
I gasped. "That's horrible! I'll be right there!" I hung up the phone. "Riker, I have to go, I'm sorry."
The ER was 2 blocks away, and I sprinted the whole distance. I got there and went up to the desk, red faced.
"I'm Hanaa Parker, can you please tell me where Livvie Solmoch and Rocky Lynch are?"
The nurse led me to a hospital room. She turned around and left, closing the door.
Livvie was laying on one of the beds, pale, and hooked up to a bunch of beeping machines. Her shoulder was bandaged in white guaze. Rocky occupied the other bed, in a worse condition than Livvie. I went over to Livvie. Her eyes fluttered open and she smiled, then they closed once again. I sat there, stroking Livvie's hair, when suddenly three doctors burst in. They rushed over to Rocky's bed and started wheeling him out. I managed to grab one of the doctor's shoulders.
"Where are you taking him?" I said, worried.
"The critical care unit," the doctor simply answered. He then turned to leave the room.
"Wait!" I cried. "Can you at least tell me what happened?"
"They were walking past a store when a man came out and started shooting. The street was abandoned, and these two were the only ones there. The girl got hit once, but the boy about three times. The shop owner then called 911. The police came and arrested the man, then we came and brought them here."
The doctor now left the room, and I slumped down a wall.
"Riker, I need you," I whimpered to the room.
I felt arms around me. "You have me," a voice said.
