A Different Kind of Devotion (R5 Fanfiction)

Hanaa's POV

We were on our way home, holding a sheet of paper in my hand.  

"My dress appointment is tomorrow. What kind of dress do you think I should have?" 

Riker thought about it, and then replied.  

"You should get one with a high waistband. Strapless." 

I giggled. "Of course you would want it strapless." 

Riker looked at me. "Strapless dresses are sexy." 

"Eyes on the road!" I scolded him. "And you're the sexy one." 

Riker tossed his hair. "You're right, I am the sexy one. You are just plain adorable." 

I smiled and we arrived home.

That night Riker and I slept together in the guest bedroom of the Lynch house.  

Of course Riker just HAD to be shirtless, which practically killed me inside.  

I just lay there in bed for a while, staring up at the ceiling.  

"What's on your mind babe?" he asked, wrapping his muscular arms around my slim stomach.  

I put my hands on his and spoke quietly.  

"I guess I'm just nervous about the marriage, that's all." 

"Well don't be," he replied. "I'll be right here next to you every step of the way." 

I laughed. "Of course you will." 

Riker moved one hand and reached for one of his rings on the end table. I turned toward him.  

He finally found the ring he wanted and slipped it on my right pointer finger.  

"If we're ever apart and you are missing me, just look at the ring. I've had this since forever, and it's my favorite one." 

I tried to give it back to him but he pushed my hand away.  

"No, no, I want you to have it. It's a token of my love." 

I smiled, even though Riker couldn't see it in the dark. I started to twist the ring around on my finger.  

"Thanks," I said. "But I wish I had something to give to you." 

"You don't need to give me anything," he said. "As long as I have your love. Now stop worrying and go to sleep." 

I pecked Riker's cheek, then turned over and fell asleep in his arms.
