Hanaa's POV

Riker's black eye had cleared up pretty well, and the swelling in his lip decreased considerably. The only problem now was his cracked rib. I had been giving him the painkillers every night like Kristinne told me, but if he slept wrong he'd wake up in pain.

It was Friday, and my job was to get Kristie to the house at 7. The plan was to take her shopping then around 6:45 head back home.

Once there, I would lead her to the backyard where about 30 people would be waiting to jump out and yell 'Surprise'. Including Ryland.

At 5 that afternoon, I picked up Kristie to go to the mall. We went to store after store, giggling and talking. Next time I looked at my phone, it was nearly 6:45.

"Hey, aren't you supposed to meet Ryland in 15 minutes?"

She sighed. "Yeah."

I tugged at her arm. "Oh c'mon, it'll be fine."

We paid for our purchases in the current store, Abercrombie&Fitch, and I practically dragged her home. We dropped off our bags inside the front door and I led her out to the back patio into the darkened backyard.

All of a sudden, party lights strung from the trees illuminated the glassy surface of the pool. At the precise moment this happened, everyone jumped out of their hiding spots.

The "Surprise!" that followed was deafening. I saw Kristie jump back in surprise, and by the light of the paper lanterns I could see her eyes fill with tears. Ryland stepped forward, smiling.

"Ryland..." she said softly. "You-you did this all for me?"

He nodded, opening his arms for a hug.

Kristie jumped into them, tears streaming down her face. "I'm sorry I ever doubted you," she sobbed.

"I forgive you," Ryland replied. "But will you be my g-"

"Yes," Kristie replied. "Yes, I'll be your girlfriend again."

She kissed him passionately, and I could tell Ryland was happier than he had been in a week.

Mission accomplished.
