"This is beautiful," breathes Bellamy. The two of us are standing in front of our new home. It's a small, one floor house made of stone. There are two windows and a door at the front of it, and it is covered in bright green moss.
"It is," I agree. Our own house. Just me and Bellamy living in it. It seems too good to be true.
He steps toward the door and swings it open. "After you."
I walk through the entrance, taking the cozy place in. There's a beige couch sitting in the first room, a round table in front of it and a large cabinet to the right. I walk through the next opening, into what must be the kitchen. Metal pots and pans hang from the ceiling. A sturdy stove and a sink sit to my left, more cabinets and drawers against the wall facing me.
On my right is another door, which I open when Bellamy catches up to me. The bedroom.
A wide bed lies in the middle of the room, with covers made of some sort of animal skin lying over it. There's one big window on the left wall, letting in bright rays of sunlight.
I'm taken over by excitement as I look around the new room. My bedroom.
My room on the ark was much smaller than this one, and the lights in it were dim. It was plain and boring. I wouldn't go in it unless it was to sleep.
This room is filled with light. The walls are textured and appear to be a sparkly silver with the sun shining on them. Best of all, I'm sharing it with Bellamy.
"This is too good to be true," I say. "I must be dreaming."
Bellamy steps in front of me, taking my hands. "You're not dreaming."
I meet his gaze, smiling. "How do you know?"
"Can you feel this?" He leans in and kisses me, biting gently on my lower lip before pulling away.
I feel my insides stir. "I don't know, you might need to do it again."

Bellamy and I wake from our nap to the sound of some kind of loud horn.
"I guess that means it's dinner time," I yawn, stepping out of bed. Bellamy catches my wrist before I can pull on my jacket. He's sitting up on the bed, his eyes half closed.
"Let's just sleep a bit more," he says tiredly.
I laugh. "We can't miss supper. We can sleep after. Aren't you excited to have our first meal in Polis?"
He throws his head back and gives a long, exaggerated sigh before getting up and pulling a shirt on.
I try to exit the room but I'm pulled back by him once again, this time to be twirled into his arms for a kiss.
"There. Now we can go," he says smugly.

We join the crowd of people heading towards the centre of the village, where the big building is. We are lead by a few earthborns into the building. We walk up a stone staircase until we reach the fourth floor, where there are at least 20 empty tables waiting for us.
The two of us join Octavia, Monty and Jasper at a table. They're all smiling excitedly.
"Isn't this incredible? We're living in actual houses. With kitchens, and big beds, and windows," gushes Jasper.
"It is pretty amazing," I agree, smiling at his enthusiasm. "Not that we did much looking around. We were so exhausted we fell asleep."
"Not me," chimes in Octavia. "I walked around and explored the village. I even talked to some people! I met this really nice guy named L-"
She gets cut off by another blow of a horn, this time softer. It's coming from the front of the room, where a tall man stands.
"Today, we will be serving you some of our finest foods, as a welcome." His booming voice echoes throughout the room. "We will be supplying you with food and drinks for as long as you stay. However, because we are a community and we must all work together, you will all be assigned jobs." A quiet chatter fills the room for a few seconds, and then the man keeps going. "But we will not talk about that now. Now, we eat!"
The room is instantly filled with wonderful smells as people walk in bearing large trays and pots. We are served hefty amounts of meat, fruit and nuts topped with sweet spices and sauces. I've never had food like this, and it's all I ever want to eat again. You can't even compare this to the brown, tasteless protein paste we ate on the ark.
While I sit on this bench, surrounded by friends, and eating this incredible meal, a voice in my head keeps reminding me how much Kaytee would love this. My mind repeats that until I'm no longer hungry, and I suddenly feel exhausted.
"I think I'm gonna go back to the cabin. I'm really tired."
I get up before anyone says anything and speed-walk towards the exit before anyone can see the tears beginning to stream down my face.
I race back to the cabin, pull the thin blinds down over the window in the bedroom and practically collapse onto the bed. I don't bother removing any of my clothes before climbing under the covers and letting myself cry into the sheets.
I'm slightly startled by the gentle arms wrapping around me. I don't lift my head as a warm body presses itself to mine and I am engulfed in the familiar sent of leather and fire smoke.

A/N
Before you guys call me out for anything unrealistic that are in the houses (like the stove, for example), there's an elevator in Polis in the show.😂

Hope you enjoyed this chapter!
