"I met a boss last night buyin' out the bar

Said I can ride top-down in his Jaguar"

SONG FOR THIS CHAPTER: SAX - FLEUR EAST

Après Moi, Le Déluge

"The Italians call them strega. The Yoruba of West Africa call them aje, meaning mother. Where my mother was from, they called them häxa, and here we call them witch. Over the centuries, vampires have fought them and fought beside them, bedded them and burned them. Whether adversary or ally, they have been a force to be reckoned with. Their ancestral magic anchors this city. There's never been one all-powerful witch until Davina." Elijah explained, pacing around the wooden floor of his study.

"Who is now tucked in safe and sound down the hall under my protection. Your Celeste was quite beautiful and a portent of evil, according to our volatile artist in residence." Klaus replies, with his signature smile, Marie huffed and turned away.

"Yes. Perhaps Davina's mistaken what she calls evil for power. Celeste was certainly very powerful in her day, but she's been dead for over two hundred years. I don't understand. Why all these sketches now?" Elijah asked, eyebrows knotted in confusion.

"Maybe, she rose from the dead?" Marie asked, eyes not looking up from her phone.

"Marie, shut up." Elijah snapped.

"Why does any witch do anything?"

Downstairs in the living room, Klaus and Elijah are making themselves and Marie drinks at the bar while they listen to Davina and Marcel fight.

"Well, that's going well."

"If you were trying to win the girl's trust, perhaps poisoning her one true love was not the most splendid idea." Marie arched her brow, and sipped on her cosmopolitan.

"Oh. Are there any more inopportune deaths you'd like to wave in my face?" Klaus rolled his eyes playfully and looked at Marie.

"Give me a month. I'll get you list." Marie smirked, and Elijah burst into laughter.

"Young, old, dead, or alive, witches are a pain in the ass."

Back in Davina's room, Davina glares at Marcel for a moment before she begins vomiting up dirt all over her bed. Marcel begins to panic.

"Davina, Davina!"

Marie who has heard the commotion, enters the room to investigate. "What the hell is going on?"She stops in his tracks when he sees Davina still throwing up soil. "Bloody hell. Davina!" Marie runs at her, and pats her back comfortingly.

Suddenly, the house begins to shake violently, as though it's an earthquake. The force throws Marie off the bed and onto a wall. Elijah runs into the room, and holds Marie, Marie pushes Elijah off, and holds Davina to her chest and kisses her hair.

Rebekah, looking worried, rushes into Davina's bedroom to check on her. She sits next to where Davina is laying weakly on her bed, while Marie sits in an armchair across the room.
