~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~"C'mon, (f/n), let's go!" Bokuto anxiously hopped up and down as he slid his sniper rifle into the holster across his back.
"Calm down for a sec, would you?" you insisted with irritation as you put your black gloves on and zipped up the front of your jacket. You then grabbed your own sniper rifle and placed it in a holster.
"And don't think about grabbing any extra bullets. Remember our challenge?" he questioned, raising his eyebrows at you. You nodded with a roll of the eyes and wrapped your hand around his as you made your way out of your agency along with the rest of the people who were coming with you as part of the plan.
An evil man had recently risen to power by using corrupt methods to control people, so you and Bokuto, being assassins, were ordered to take him out. Even though Bokuto seemed like the kind of guy who would be likely to go trigger happy, you trusted him completely. He was your soulmate, after all.
The way the two of you had met had been quite strange and unexpected. Before your meeting, you'd worked as a lone assassin, taking jobs here and there, but refusing to belong to any sort of agency. You had preferred being alone. Over time, however, you couldn't deny that you felt some sort of emptiness inside of you.
You'd heard stories about people finding their soulmates, including ones that your friends had told you about. Apparently, it had been impossible for the two of them to hurt each other. Your friend told you about how she'd punched her soulmate in the face without knowing it was him, and he hadn't felt a thing. It was rather strange to you and you were curious as to who your soulmate was, but with all the people there were in the world, you'd doubted that you'd find him.
One night, when you had been on a mission to assassinate a corrupt government official in another country, you'd crept up onto a rooftop nearby the hotel the man was staying at. You'd had a perfect view of him sitting in a chair in the room in all of his fat glory, and you'd gotten out your trusty sniper rifle to take aim. Just as you'd gotten his head right in your sights, you'd heard footsteps behind you.
By the time you'd turned around, however, you'd been faced with the barrel of a gun, and the shot had already been fired right at your forehead. Seeing that there was nothing you could do, you'd waited for your death. It did not come, though, and you'd felt confused. When you'd opened your eyes again, you'd witnessed your attacker shooting you and the bullet bouncing off your head as if you were bullet proof.
In your confused state, you'd pulled out a knife to fight off your attacker with, and he'd done the same. You'd both fought each other, attempting to take stabs at vital organs only to find that the blades ricocheted off each other's bodies like magnets repelled by each other. You physically couldn't hurt each other.
After attempting to kill each other a few more times and realizing that you couldn't, you'd both dropped your weapons and wrapped your arms around each other. "I finally found you," he'd whispered in awe as he'd held onto you tightly. Once you'd enjoyed each other's warmth for a few moments, he'd pressed a kiss against your lips daringly before asking who you were.
In that moment, though, people had been alerted by his gunshots, and the two of you had had to pick up your weapons and run away to avoid getting caught. The entire time, he'd held your hand tightly and had guided you back to where he came from.
When you'd gotten the opportunity to introduce yourselves, Bokuto had offered you a spot at the agency where he worked. That way, you would be safer and the two of you would be able to be together. Even though you were hesitant at first, you'd agreed, and you'd been there with him ever since.
Now, as you rode in a deceptively small car to your drop off location, you leaned your head on his shoulder and squeezed his hand gently. "I've always wondered how a man as crazy and erratic as you are can have such a steady hand while shooting," you murmured.
He looked down at you and chuckled slightly. "If we weren't soulmates that comment might actually have hurt my feelings," he responded, his golden eyes gazing into your own (e/c) ones, "Besides, if I hadn't tried to shoot you, we wouldn't have met, would we?"
"I guess you could call it love at first sight since you must've seen me camping out on that building through the sights of your own gun," you joked.
He laughed. "At least now you won't have to worry about accidental friendly fire."
"If you shoot me again, you're going down, Bokuto Koutarou."
"I wouldn't doubt that. I bet you would totally take me out if you could. You're a pretty hardcore chick."
You couldn't help but smile at his observation and blush slightly. When the car came to a halt in a hidden alleyway, the two of you climbed out of the car and hid in the shadows, looking up at the building that you were meant to climb up.
"Alright, it's your turn to shoot. I'll be watching your back, babe," Bokuto announced softly as he patted your shoulder.
"You'd better," you grumbled as he leaned down towards you to press his lips against yours in a gentle kiss.
Even though you'd been on numerous missions together since your first meeting, and you trusted him more than anyone else in the world, you still had that lingering fear of the two of you going on a mission and you coming back alone. You didn't know what you would do if you lost him or never got to see him again, which was why you always took the time to have chats with him and kiss him before you started your missions. You tried your best to take advantage of the time you spent together, and he knew that.
"Don't miss," Bokuto said playfully as he kissed you again.
"Do I ever?" you retorted as the two of you pulled away and started toward the building. He shook his head with a smile and turned his attention to the nearby ladder.
"After you. I'll be right behind you, making sure that nobody tails you."
You felt yourself blush slightly even though you'd probably heard him say this about a million times by now. You approached the ladder, putting your hands on the dirty and slightly rusty rungs before pausing for a moment.
"I love you," you told him as he watched you expectantly.
"I love you too."
And you climbed the ladder, not even bothering to look back since you knew that he was always going to be there. When the moment came, you made the fateful shot that took out your target, and you turned and ran to your designated pick up spot.
And when you slid into the backseat of the car, Bokuto hopped into the car from the other side, smiling proudly at you.
