You are a princess and Daichi is a butler!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You frowned and adjusted your perfectly arranged (h/l) (h/c) hair as you stood near the wall of the immense and gorgeous ballroom. You watched duchesses and dukes, princesses and princes, and other aristocrats as they glided elegantly across the dance floor in time with the instrumental music.
One of the many people having the time of their life was the asshole prince with whom your parents had arranged a marriage. As you watched the beautiful—yet disgusting—prince dance with another woman, you resisted the urge to take off your engagement ring and throw it at his head. Instead, you sipped the alcoholic drink in your hand, hoping it would take the edge off your jealousy and utter distress with your situation.
You hated parties like these because you hated your fiancée and you hated the people that he invited. They were all such pompous and arrogant jerks who tried to see how many women they could dance with and have sex with in a week. As much as you wanted desperately to run away and abandon your engagement with your jerk of a fiancée, you found that you couldn't. You were only staying because of one person who just so happened to be—
"Princess (l/n), would you like me to pour you another drink?"
You were interrupted from your thoughts and pulled back into reality when the man you wanted to see appeared in front of you, holding a platter of appetizers in one of his hands. As you looked into his eyes, you felt your heart warm, and you smiled as you nodded.
"That would be wonderful. Thank you," you responded and handed him your empty glass. He returned your smile and walked out of the ballroom to refill your drink.
Sawamura Daichi was the only reason why you were still here. He was your fiancée's butler, but he cared about you more than your own husband to be. That asshole was too busy flirting with other women to give a damn about you, and he only acknowledged your existence when it looked good for him.
Daichi, on the other hand, was the one who kept you company while Prince (man's name) was off doing other things. He always made sure that you were healthy and that you weren't lonely. You often bumped into him roaming the hallways of the castle whenever your fiancée was in a meeting or off partying without you, claiming that you weren't well enough to attend. Whether Daichi took care of you because it was his job or because he genuinely loved you was beyond your knowledge, but you still appreciated everything he did for you.
In addition to his wonderful acts of kindness, he was also extremely handsome. The way his short brown hair looked always tempted you to run your fingers through it, and his chocolate brown eyes were warm and comforting to you. He always dressed nicely in his white button up shirt underneath his black vest, along with those black pants that hugged his butt and thighs oh so nicely. He was charming and irresistible, and he'd always been there to pick up the pieces of you that your fiancée left behind.
As you waited for Daichi's return, you noticed people start to crowd around your fiancée, and you saw him wave at you. "Ah, there she is! My beautiful princess! Come over here, my darling, I've got some people who are dying to meet you!" Even though every muscle in your body resisted, you still found yourself walking towards him. He extended his arm towards you and wrapped it around your waist tightly before pressing a kiss against your lips.
As he spoke to the people surrounding him about you, tickling their fancies with romantic-sounding lies about your relationship, you looked over at the entrance to the ballroom and saw Daichi enter with a few drinks on a tray. Upon noticing your situation, he walked over to you and wordlessly handed you a drink with a small bow before walking away before you could thank him.
When you watched him leave, you noticed him glance at you from over his shoulder, and you saw a sort of saddened look in his dark brown eyes. He turned back away before you could confirm his expression.
Later on in the evening, after all of the guests had left, Prince (man's name) walked with you out of the ballroom and down the hallway towards the bedroom the two of you shared. Feeling both anger and disappointment, you quickly changed into your nightdress and slipped into bed, turning your back on your fiancée.
"Oh, come on, babe. Don't be like that with me! What did I do wrong this time?!" he asked as he got into bed beside you.
"The same thing you always do wrong. Why do you even bother asking anymore? You've heard the same answer so many times now since you still haven't changed at all," you replied harshly.
"You know I love you, (f/n)," he tried. You felt one hand stroke your hair while the other rubbed your back, and you flinched.
"Don't touch me, you creep! Just leave me alone," you snapped and pushed his hands away.
He scoffed in reply. "Fine. I don't want to sleep with you anyway. A woman who won't give me what I want isn't worthy of being in my presence anyway." You felt the bed shift, followed by the sound of his footsteps and of the door opening and closing.
You thought you were going to be okay after that encounter with him, since you dealt with that reaction from him often, but you felt disturbed when you heard another door close, and you heard loud moaning from the other side when you went to investigate. Of course. All he ever does is use me as a pawn, and when I refuse to talk to him, he always has some random woman in the castle to have sex with, you thought angrily.
Feeling alone and upset, you wandered back to your room and pressed a button by your bed to call for Daichi. He soon arrived at your door in his bedclothes, and you allowed him inside to come and sit down with you.
"I want to run away from it all so badly," you whispered as you let out a deep sigh.
"Then why don't you?" Daichi asked, his eyes sparkling with curiosity in the dim light of the lamp near your bed.
You hesitated for a moment, but quickly decided to simply tell him how you felt. "Because I can't leave you, Daichi."
There was a long silence as he gazed at you before saying, "Princess—"
"Call me (f/n). I don't even care about the damn titles anymore. I just want to be happy..." you interrupted him. Your voice started out strong, but it soon started to waver and become smaller as you fought tears.
Daichi wrapped his arms around you tightly and held you closely to him as tears started to stream down your cheeks and you cried quietly.
"You're the only person who makes me feel happy and loved. I don't care what title I have, I just want to be with someone who really cares about me. I love you," you explained as you clung onto him for comfort.
"I love you too, but there's not much I can do, I'm afraid. I'm bound to Prince (man's name) whether I like it or not, which I don't," he told you gently as he rubbed your back.
You left his arms for a moment to get up and lock the bedroom door. You then returned to him and laid down beside him, wrapping your arms around him and saying, "Please just stay here with me, then." You took your engagement ring off and put it in one of the drawers of your bedside table.
Daichi let you drag him into bed with you and he covered both of your bodies with the covers. He kept his arms around you and placed a gentle kiss on your lips.
"We'll figure something out, (f/n), but, for now, just get some rest." His gentle touch and whispered reassurances were enough to send you to sleep, and, for once, you weren't alone.
