Kuroo is a BMX biker and he invites you to cheer him on at his competitions!
Warning(s): Kuroo being a total dumbass but what's new
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You waited anxiously in amongst the excited crowds of fans as you watched the competition. You'd managed to arrive early, since your friend had brought you along with him to cheer him one, so you'd snagged a spot at the very front, right by the railing. In front of you was a giant ramp leading down from a covered box where the contestants waited for their turns. In front of that ramp, there was another mound of dirt on which the bikers were supposed to land after doing their stunts, followed by a dirt trail that turned around and looped back around right in front of the crowd.
You'd been Kuroo's friend for as long as you could remember, and you'd watched him pick up this sport. Even though he practiced his racing as well, he preferred competitions based on tricks, where points were given to contestants based on the execution of their stunts.
Ever since he'd started competing, you'd been with him to watch him and support him. You didn't mind going to tournaments and competitions of his because you thought they were really intense and fun to watch.
Besides racking up points and victories, Kuroo had also accumulated quite a few injuries, so he'd needed you there with him to comfort him or keep his attention off whatever pain he was in. Aside from supporting him when he was injured, you also picked him up when he got down on himself, which usually required a firm slap upside the head and a few briskly spoken—but encouraging—words.
You were quite proud of Kuroo and of how far he'd come since he first started, so you'd always been willing to support him in order to watch him succeed and to lift him back up again when he failed. Also, you had a rapidly developing crush on him, so you jumped at the opportunity to spend extra time with you. He was so focused on his biking, though, that you wondered if he even noticed your feelings for him or felt the same about you.
Whatever. You were going to be by his side no matter what.
As the announcer called out another contestant's name, you watched as the person appeared at the top of the ramp, sitting atop their bike and examining the road ahead of them. Once he was prepared, he quickly sat up and started pedaling down the ramp as fast as he could. He then launched himself off the ramp and into the air and did a few tricks before landing on the dirt mound and carefully rounding the corner, waving to all of his fans as he casually made his way back to the other end of the course.
Every time a contestant went and performed their stunts, you held your breath both in awe and in fear. You'd seen people miss their landings and wipe out before, including Kuroo, and it hadn't been pretty. Luckily, your friend had never gotten seriously injured from a fall, since he usually only lost his balance going around a turn and fell.
When Kuroo's name was announced, you looked up at saw him sitting on his trusty red bike, a helmet atop his head and his gloved hands resting on the handlebars. You cheered loudly for him as he made his way down the ramp and showed off a few stunts he'd been mastering before landing steadily and rounding the corner. As he rode past the crowd, you stuck your hand out and gave him a high five, like you always did.
You let out a sigh of relief once Kuroo had finished his stunts for this round, and you were pleased to hear his high scores that he'd received.
The second round, however, was not so forgiving.
You noticed an intense look on Kuroo's face as he watched the ramp before setting off. You could tell that he was thinking of something incredible to pull off and shock the crowd, which worried you immensely.
Please, Tetsurou, don't do whatever it is that you're thinking! This is not the time to be a dumbass! you thought with fear as you chewed on your lip.
He quickly made his way down the ramp before flying into the air and doing a backflip. He then performed a trick that you'd only seen him practice twice but had failed both times because of its difficulty to execute. You put your hands on your face as he let go of the handlebars with one of his hands and took his feet off the pedals before extending his body out behind the bike and spinning the frame around for extra emphasis.
He quickly spun the bike back around to its original position and climbed onto it again before landing on the mound. When he landed, though, his back tire clipped the top of the mound, throwing the entire bike off balance and causing him to lose traction and control. He was going too fast to stop or steady himself, and he ended up flying off the bike, tumbling down the mound and across the dirt path before hitting a man-made dirt wall, completely stopping his body. His bike soon followed him and came to a halt after hitting him as well.
You heard everyone in the audience gasp, and you started to call out to him. Despite his attempts, he couldn't get himself up to his feet, and he ended up lying in the dust until the on-site paramedics rushed over and put him on a stretcher.
He was disqualified.
When you arrived at the hospital he'd been taken to, you waited around nervously until a nurse called out your name and said that Kuroo had apparently been asking for you on his way to the hospital. She led you to his room and listed his injuries before leaving the two of you alone.
He had a broken arm, a cracked rib or two, a minor concussion, and a few broken fingers. Other than that, he had some pretty nasty bruises on his back and chest, where he'd taken most of the force of the fall.
You sighed deeply as you sat down next to his sleeping form. His helmet and gloves had been removed and were resting on a small table. You looked at his messy black hair before gazing at his face, which had managed to remain unscathed for the most part.
You sat down next to his bed and thought about how peaceful he looked as he slept. Thinking about what the nurse had said earlier about him asking for you made your heart warm. Before you could stop yourself, you moved closer to him and pressed a gentle kiss against his lips, which were surprisingly soft.
"You're such a dumbass, Tetsurou. But I love you and I'm glad you're okay," you said softly and brushed his hair out of his face before holding his hand carefully.
A blush crept onto your face when you noticed him smile and open his eyes to look at you. "Was that a confession I just heard?" he asked, his eyes narrowing as he smirked.
"What the hell?! I thought you were asleep!"
"That doesn't change the fact that you just told me you loved me." You were quiet as you pursed your lips and turned away to hide your red cheeks. How embarrassing... Times like this really made you curse him in your mind. "And it doesn't change the fact that I love you too," you heard him add.
You whirled around to face him. "Y-You do?" you questioned.
"Yeah. Now get over here so I can kiss you," he ordered, using his good arm to pull you closer to him. You leaned back down towards him and gave him more of the kisses he desired while receiving his for yourself. When you pulled away, his smirk returned. "So, what did you think of those stunts? Pretty awesome, huh?"
"Don't do them again, you idiot."
