Get A Clue {Terushima Yuuji}

Detective AU in which you and Teru are detectives who have been assigned to work together on a case

There was nothing but the sound of paper creasing and flipping as you carefully looked through the case file for a refresher. You'd just visited the crime scene—which never got any easier for you since you worked mainly on murder cases—and you needed to review the information you already had.

"Hey, why are you so quiet? You usually talk to yourself when you're thinking."

You slowly looked up from your papers to see the rookie detective who'd been assigned to you sitting backwards in his chair, gazing at you. He'd been quiet as a mouse this entire time, which was very unusual for him, but now he'd interrupted you again just like he always did.

"Why have you been so quiet? You're always such the chatterbox," you responded.

He rolled his chair over from his desk to the front of your own and ran a hand through his caramel colored hair. "I'll have you know I was taking a nap."

"Oh, that's wonderful! Sleeping on the job is yet another thing you can add to your resume to make people want you," you told him sarcastically and rolled your eyes.

A smirk appeared on his face as he stated, "Well, you wanted me so I guess it must be working."

You shook your head and tapped your pen against your desk a few times. "You were assigned to me. Let's not forget that," you reminded him.

"But you also had the opportunity to drop me at any moment, yet you chose to keep me."

You put your face in your hands to hide your blushing and let out a long and drawn out sigh. "Yuuji, I need to do my work and so do you."

His brown eyes gazed into your own (e/c) ones for a moment longer before he surrendered and rolled back over to his desk. He slumped over in his chair like a dejected child who'd just been told he couldn't have a treat.

After working with Terushima for a few weeks, you'd learned that this was how he always acted when he had to buckle down and do his job. You were here to mentor him and teach him discipline and that was what you were going to do. Even though sharing an office with him was quite annoying sometimes because he was annoying, you found that you missed him when he was gone.

"I need an incentive to work!" Terushima groaned as he leaned back in his chair dramatically and noisily.

"You're already getting paid and working alongside one of the best detectives in the city, so I don't know what else you would want," you replied sharply, wishing he would shut up for a minute so you could focus. You should've appreciated the time he'd spent napping.

He was quiet for a moment before he got up from his chair and sauntered over to your desk. He placed his hands on it and leaned towards you, reminding you of the fact that you hated it whenever anyone towered over your desk while you were sitting at it.

"You know, I'd definitely be able to get my work done if one of the best detectives in the city kissed me," he suggested with a wiggle of his eyebrows.

This comment made you blush, and the redness on your cheeks only intensified as he moved closer to you. Feeling flustered, you prepared to push his face away, but you were interrupted by the phone ringing. Part of you praised this interruption while the other part of you cursed it.

You picked up the phone and learned that the results of a DNA analysis that you'd requested were ready and that a coworker wanted you to come and collect them so that you could discuss them.
