Disclaimer: I don't know what werewolf transformations are like so I'm just gonna wing it. Don't hate me if I mess up.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~How was it that you'd worked in the same national park for weeks yet still forgot how to get back to your station so often?
You'd really chosen the wrong time to get lost. The sun was setting and the sky was almost completely dark. The tall trees around you seemed to watch you as you held your lantern with two trembling hands and clumsily stumbled down a forest path that you used quite frequently. Even though you'd been down this path many times before, your footsteps were always more unsure in the dark.
The sound of a wolf howling off in the distance made you jump slightly before picking up your pace, not caring at how loud the leaves beneath your feet crunched. The chill of the night seemed to bite through your jacket, and you nervously pulled it closer to you, feeling your cold park ranger badge brush against your hand.
A few weeks ago, you wouldn't have minded the sound of a wolf howling. Wolves were common inhabitants of the park—everyone knew that. But what you hadn't known was that there were werewolves hanging around. You hadn't known that until you'd been drawn out of your station in the middle of the night by a gunshot only to find a dead werewolf underneath a tree. The only strange part about that incident was the fact that the body had disappeared by the time you'd called other rangers out to investigate, and that had made you wonder if you'd dreamt up the creature in your drowsy state.
Despite the fact that you'd mostly convinced yourself you'd been dreaming, the idea of werewolves hanging around the park totally freaked you out.
I just gotta get back to the station... There it is, you thought once you'd noticed a light not too far away, atop a small hill. Feeling a wave of relief wash over you, you rushed over to the hill.
Before you could make it to the grassy slope, however, you were scared out of your mind by a shadowy figure that appeared out of the corner of your eye. Without giving you any time to react, the shadowy figure launched itself at you, tackling you and sinking its teeth into your shoulder, making you cry out loudly in pain and terror.
Upon hearing your scream, your attacker backed off of you and looked down at you, revealing their face for you to see. You saw a pair of brown eyes staring back at you, and your gaze shifted to the person's short, blonde hair with easily recognizable brown stripes.
"K-Kentarou?! What the hell are you doing?!" you gasped as your heart began to pound heavily and painfully in your chest. Of all people, you would've never expected your fellow park ranger, friend, and crush to attack you like this.
Kyoutani didn't respond, and you felt even more concerned when you noticed sharp teeth tinted red with your blood when he opened his mouth slightly. "Ah, shit..." he mumbled under his breath as he got up off of you and kneeled down beside you instead.
"Kentarou... What's ha—"
"How many fingers am I holding up?" he asked and placed his hand in front of your face. Before you could respond confidently, you were overcome by a wave of dizziness, and your vision became hazy.
"Oh god... W... What is going... on...?" you wondered as you put your hand over your face and closed your eyes. At first, you thought you were having a panic attack, but the way the wound on your shoulder was throbbing painfully was making you feel even more uneasy.
When Kyoutani noticed your pallor, he carefully picked you up and carried you up the hill that led to your station before walking inside and plopping you down on your bed. He then wrestled your lantern out of your cold and clammy hands, and reached for the buttons on your uniform shirt.
