Soulmate AU where you can't feel any emotions until you meet your soulmate!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~The cold air of the morning whipped past you, whistling through the (h/l) (h/c) strands of hair tied up in a ponytail behind your head. You pulled the two ends of your jacket together and yanked the zipper up to your throat. Goosebumps formed on your legs beyond the bottom of your running shorts, but you didn't care. You continued to run.
As part of your (favorite sport) training, you went on runs early in the morning when it was quiet, and you always ran by yourself. It's not like you had anyone to run with anyway.
People tended to avoid you, and you thought it was because you somehow intimidated them. Any emotions your friends felt, you were exempt from. Whenever someone turned to you during class and asked, "Geez, (f/n), isn't this teacher so boring?" you replied with a blank stare.
"What is boredom? What does it feel like?" you'd wonder.
People tried to explain emotions to you and you tried to understand, but you just couldn't comprehend them. You'd missed out on experiencing joy, happiness, sadness, jealousy, and love. People who tried to provoke you in a negative way never got anything out of you because you emotionally couldn't feel anything.
It was rather tiresome and plain to live a life like yours, but you didn't care. You didn't really care about anything. You did things because you were told to do them, you listened to your parents, and you obeyed your coach because that was what you were supposed to do. You didn't really have much free will.
As you ran down the sidewalk, hearing nothing but your footsteps breaking the deafening silence around you, you lowered your head to wipe sweat from your face with your shirt. The next thing you knew, you'd collided with something. You quickly backed away from whatever it was that you'd hit and looked up.
Suddenly, you realized that you were face to face with none other than the ace of Shiratorizawa's volleyball team, Ushijima Wakatoshi. You also attended Shiratorizawa, but you'd never met the ace in person.
For the first time, you felt a stirring in your chest as you looked up at him. Your stomach clenched in some strange sensation that was completely foreign to you. Based on what your friends had told you about emotions, you were able to pin down your feelings to fear. Why were you suddenly feeling emotions? You didn't know what to do, so you froze, saying nothing.
As Ushijima looked down at you with his olive colored eyes, he, too, felt a strange stirring in his chest. It wasn't the same as yours, though. The thumping of his heart was accompanied by a feeling of warmth and a desire to be closer to you. He felt love.
As the two of you stared at each other, the walk signal appeared on the crosswalk. Neither one of you moved a muscle.
Shortly after your first meeting, you two gotten to know each other, and that process was only made easier by the fact that you went to the same school. You soon overcame your fear of him after realizing how gentle he was towards you. He walked with you to and from classes, sat with you during lunch, and walked with you to and from school.
Even though he wasn't a very affectionate person, he liked to hold your hand. He was far from romantic, and you could tell by the way loving comments you made to him sometimes flew right over his head.
While you'd gotten the hang of having emotions, Ushijima seemed to lag behind. He was still trying to learn how to deal with his emotions and understand what emotions were associated with certain things. He only really felt love whenever he played volleyball or he saw you. However, he had feelings of anger and competitiveness that he associated with volleyball, but not with you. His teammates noticed him play with more fervor since he met you.
Over time, you noticed that Ushijima took to watching you closely. Whenever you two were standing somewhere, waiting for something, he would look down at you, enjoying the effects that love had on him. He'd watch you until you blushed and turned away from him, feeling self-conscious, and then he'd press a kiss against your forehead to reassure you. Whenever he was over at your house for a study date, he would gaze at you as you worked intently.
One evening, when he came over to your house after going home and showering, you caught him staring at you intently once again as the two of you sat together on your bed. You raised your head and turned your attention away from your textbook to look at him. His eyes were so steady and unwavering that it made you feel uneasy at first, but the gentle smile that appeared on his lips put you at ease.
"You don't usually look back at me," he commented softly. You smiled and blushed but continued to watch him carefully, taking in every feature of his face. As you gazed into his eyes, you felt his arms snake around your waist, pulling you closer to him so that your faces were mere millimeters apart. He soon let his eyes close, and you did the same as he pressed his lips against yours.
You didn't get to kiss him as much as you'd like to, but whenever you two did kiss, it was always strong and passionate.
"I love you, (f/n)." His lips brushed yours as they formed those simple words, and you opened your eyes. After finally taking some time to understand love, he knew that he truly felt love for you. You'd made him feel it.
"I love you too, Wakatoshi," you whispered, placing your hands on the sides of his face and smiling before kissing him again. Soon, you found yourselves lost in each other's kisses and caresses.
You were so grateful that you'd met him. Without him, you wouldn't have known what love really was.
