~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~"Bye, (son's name), have a good day at school!" You bent down to kiss your son's cheek before smoothing a stray piece of his (h/c) hair down and smiling.
"I will, mommy!" he replied happily as he ran over to a table to go and greet his friends.
As you chuckled softly and thought about how cute your little boy was, you noticed his teacher, Ennoshita, greet him as well and tell him how much fun everyone was going to have in class that day. Your son bubbled enthusiastically with his friends, and Ennoshita smiled before approaching you.
"Hello, Ennoshita-san! My son was much more excited to come to your class today than usual... Is there a reason for that?" you wondered.
"Ah, I told the class yesterday that they'd get to draw a picture of their family today and that they'd get to watch a fun video to help them with their counting," Ennoshita answered and gave you a small smile.
"Well, I look forward to hearing all about it when I pick him up after school!"
"Have a good day at work, (l/n)-san!"
Ennoshita's warm smile made your heart flutter in your chest, and you quickly exchanged goodbyes with him before heading back to your car and driving off to work.
You'd been a single mother for four out of the five years that your son had been alive. A year after your son was born, you'd found out that your husband had been cheating on you both while you were pregnant and while you'd been taking care of (son's name). Enraged, you'd filed for a divorce immediately to get him out of your life as soon as possible.
Since then, you'd been living by yourself, working, and taking care of (son's name) on your own. You didn't mind being a single mother since your little boy was your pride and joy, and you loved him more than anything else.
As much as you'd wanted to start dating again, your child always came first since he was your priority. You never really thought that you'd find another man who wanted to date you and help you take care of a child that wasn't his own, but your feelings started to change after you'd enrolled your son in the local elementary school.
After meeting Ennoshita for the first time, you knew your son was in good hands. He was kind and caring, and (son's name) always told you about the fun things he did and learned in class. In fact, your son really loved Ennoshita. When you'd stayed a few minutes into class to watch, you'd been impressed by how well he connected with and engaged his students. You knew how hard it was to keep children entertained, so you were amazed by the fact that he could keep at least twenty of them focused.
Whenever you came early to wait for your son, Ennoshita talked to you about how he was doing in the class and how nice he was to the other boys and girls. He complimented your parenting and always made sure to tell you how much your son talked about you. He would then ask how you were doing, and the two of you would have a pleasant conversation, which was how each of you got to learn more about each other.
You really liked Ennoshita. Not only was he a good role model for your son and a great teacher, but he was also handsome and sweet. In fact, you didn't realize how much you flirted with him until your son had asked you why you talked to him so much.
While you were sitting at your desk in your office, you wondered how your son was doing, and you found yourself daydreaming about Ennoshita. That smooth and dark hair of his looked so soft, and his dark eyes were always kind and tender, especially when he was dealing with children. His voice often took on a soft tone when he was talking to you.
The only thing that interrupted you from your daydreaming was remembering something you'd forgotten. You'd forgotten to pack your son's lunch!
You grabbed your keys and ran out of your office, telling your coworkers that you'd be right back as you ran down the stairs and out to your car. Once you'd run home and made lunch for your son, you drove to the elementary school and rushed into Ennoshita's classroom.
"Here you go, baby," you panted as you handed your son his lunch. The class was currently having recess, and you'd soon found your boy digging around in his backpack for a lunchbox that wasn't there.
"Thanks, mommy!" your son said happily and grabbed his lunchbox. You gave him a hug before letting him run outside to eat and play with his friends.
You let out a long sigh of relief as you fixed your slightly messy hair. You'd made it in just the nick of time. A hand on your shoulder made you turn to face its owner, and you saw Ennoshita regarding you with a slightly troubled expression.
"It must be hard to be a single mom," he commented, patting your shoulder gently, "You do so much for him."
You nodded, letting out another sigh. "It is difficult, but I would never let him know that. He means everything to me, but I do wish that I could give him a father, you know?" you explained. He nodded in agreement and you laughed slightly. "He... He talks about you a lot. You must be like a father figure to him, in a way."
Ennoshita smiled, and there was a long silence in your conversation as you looked at each other. You blushed slightly when you felt a warm hand wrap itself around yours. You didn't even realize how close you two were until you felt his breath against your lips before he kissed you.
Your heart fluttered in your chest as you returned his kiss and wrapped your arms around him. When you pulled away, you both smiled at each other. You noticed a bright blush cover Ennoshita's face suddenly, so you turned to look behind you at what had caught his attention.
You blushed profusely as well when you saw your son standing in the doorway with a knowing smile on his face.
