Bokuto is a werewolf, you are a half-werewolf (you can transform whenever you want), and Akaashi is a hunter.

Warning(s): angst, character death
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~You took a deep breath of the crisp air of fall as you rested your head on your boyfriend's shoulder, feeling the fabric of his park ranger uniform against your cheek. You felt content as you gazed at the park around you, watching the wind gentle rattle leaves of red, orange, and brown hues off the thinning branches of trees. The warmth from the sun as well as the warmth from your boyfriend kept you at a comfortable temperature, making it harder for you to want to move a muscle.
You closed your eyes for a moment, only opening them when you felt a finger poke your cheek. "Hey, am I really so boring that you're falling asleep?!" your boyfriend cried, his golden eyes wide with shock.
You smiled softly and shook your head. "I'm just so warm and comfortable that I kinda want to go to sleep," you stated, taking your hand and running it up and down his neck.
He sighed and planted a kiss on your cheek. "Are you okay?" he wondered as he nuzzled your face gently.
"It's been a long day..." you murmured softly, "And it's going to be an even longer night since there's going to be a full moon."
"You don't have to stay up with me. I can wait it out on my own."
"It's fine. I want to be there with you so that you don't go on a rampage and get spotted." There was a long silence, and you looked down at your hand, admiring the promise ring that he'd given to you. "I'm not going to leave you, Koutarou, I promised you that."
You looked up at him and ran your hand through his black and white spiky hair before holding his face in your hand and kissing him. He smiled against your lips. "You're the best! I love you, (f/n)."
"I love you too."
You pressed your lips against his again, but your kisses were soon interrupted when your walkie talkie went off. Someone was requesting your assistance at a different part of the park.
"Do you really have to leave?" Bokuto whined as he held onto you, keeping you from getting up.
"Yes. But I'll see you tonight, baby," you assured him and kissed his forehead.
"Okay..." he mumbled, reluctantly letting go of you so that you could go and help out a fellow ranger. Once you were gone, Bokuto stood up and continued his walk around the park to make sure that nothing was amiss.
Meanwhile, a hunter took refuge in a hidden cave. He usually didn't care for camping out on park property, but he'd decided to risk it after hearing that the park was infested with werewolves. Whether or not that was true, he was going to find out tonight.
He sighed and ran his hand through his slightly messy black hair as he loaded his trusty hunting rifle with bullets. He didn't know how many he would need to take down a werewolf, but he certainly wasn't taking his chances. Werewolves were worth a lot of money if they were brought in, and if there was one thing Akaashi needed, it was money. He also needed to impress his boss so that he could continue getting higher profile jobs that would pay him better.
So far, he hadn't let a single target escape.
When nighttime crept in, and the full moon replaced the burning sun, you left your lookout tower and made your way through the more wooded area of the park, where your dark fur coat would blend in with the shadows. You tried to avoid open areas as much as possible so that there would be a lower chance of you being spotted. As you trotted on all fours, leaves crunching under your paws, you stopped when you heard Bokuto's distinct howl pierce through the silence of the night.
Idiot, you thought, he always makes me nervous that he'll give away his position to anybody wandering around.
A few more wolves howled in the distance, but you pinned down Bokuto's howls to a general area, and started to run toward it. On the way from his lookout to yours, and vice versa, there was an unavoidable open field. There were no trees, no bushes, and nothing to hide yourself with. Right now, that field was the only thing separating you from him.
In the distance, you could hear Bokuto calling for you, and you returned his call before sprinting across the open field. You knew he was close. You would make it to him.
Akaashi, who had been hiding out on a rocky ledge nearby, saw a creature run into the opening between the two parts of the forest. He lifted the sights of his rifle up to his eye and took his aim.
The sound of a gunshot pierced through the air, echoing across the park, followed by the sound of your cry as pain surged through your body. You turned around and saw Akaashi standing on the ledge of a nearby cliff. If you jumped high enough, you'd be able to reach him, but you didn't have time to react before he shot you again.
You snarled loudly as you fell to the ground, unable to move due to the weakness and the pain that had overcome you. You then let out a loud cry, signaling for Bokuto's help.
Akaashi didn't know that you hadn't come alone, so he leapt down off the ledge and walked over towards you to finish you off and cart your body away. As he approached you, he suddenly stopped when a snarl that made his blood run cold echoed from nearby.
Bokuto's golden eyes shine in the darkness, and he emerged from the shadows. Bokuto was a huge werewolf, and Akaashi looked puny compared to him in size. Akaashi knew that Bokuto was too big to kill without being killed first, so he ran away, barely managing to escape to higher ground before Bokuto got him and murdered him in cold blood.
Once Akaashi had run away, Bokuto growled loudly with frustration before running over to you and lying down next to you. You regarded him with a blank pair of (e/c) eyes that were full of tears. You knew that you weren't going to survive, and Bokuto's attempts to reassure you only made you cry harder.
He looked down at your wounds, feeling his mind reel with fear when he saw the bullet holes puncturing vital areas of your body. The grass underneath your body was starting to become stained with blood.
You whined softly, and he gently ran one of his enormous hands up and down your back to try to soothe you. He then nuzzled your face and your shoulder with his snout, holding your body closely to his, which was one of his ways of expressing love for you. The dark edges were creeping into your vision. I'm sorry, Bokuto, I'm sorry I broke my promise, you thought sadly.
Suddenly, another gunshot rang through the air, and when Bokuto looked back over at you, you were dead. That final shot had made it into your head, killing you instantly. He let out a loud whine before picking your lifeless body up and placing it gently underneath a large pine tree, where the two of you had always spent your free time together. I'm sorry, (f/n), I'm sorry I couldn't protect you. I love you, he apologized in his mind as he pressed his head against yours gently.
He would bury you and mourn later. His blood was burning with rage.
He looked up at a nearby cliff and saw Akaashi's form running away. He wasn't going to get away with this. Bokuto had his heart and mind set on killing him. He'd taken your life—the life of the woman he loved and his companion—and was now trying to escape.
Without you there to keep him stable, there was nothing preventing Bokuto from losing control and chasing after Akaashi before he could get away and hide. No amount of bullets put in him could stop a werewolf as powerful and determined as he was.
