February 2016 (Richmond, Melbourne)
It was Friday night, and I'd just clocked off work for the night. I wasn't looking forward to this weekend, Valentine's Day.
This year was going to be completely different to last year. This year I was single. Not to say that there's anything wrong with being single on Valentine's Day.Last year I was with Luke, we'd been together for less than three months, but it was definitely one of the best I'd had. Granted it's not hard to have a good Valentine's Day when you've been single for eighteen of the nineteen you've been alive for.
Last year, Luke was in LA, writing and recording their new album; but that didn't stop him from surprising me. The Friday night, my cousin J stayed over and she would be again the Saturday night, as for her birthday that year, I'd gotten her a ticket to see One Direction, whose concert in Melbourne was coincidentally on Valentine's Day.
I wasn't expecting anything from Luke at all. But I was surprised that Saturday Morning when I woke up, there was perfume, a teddy bear with a Pandora charm bracelet wrapped around its neck, all set up on my dresser. And then ten minutes after I woke up, the buzzer to my apartment went off, and there was a delivery guy, with a bunch of red roses for me. There was a card, with the wordsI never expected to give you my heart. I love you Dana, Happy Valentine's Day. I miss you, and I'm counting down the days until you're in my arms again,
All my love, Luke xxxxIt made my day.
This year was going to hurt. This year was going to horrible. She was going to be getting everything from him that I wanted.
As much as I would deny it to everyone who asked, except Monti; she knew me better than anyone and would call me out on my bullshit, I still loved him and to this day, I still wished he answered the phone, when I called him.
It scared me to think that in less than a month, Luke and I could possibly be in the same room again; I didn't want to think about that I couldn't. Not with her being there. The last time Michael and I spoke, was two weeks ago. I called to tell him that I would in fact be in Bangkok when they were there for their tour, and that's when he told me, that she was going to be joining them. I wasn't ready for this. I wasn't ready to come face to face with the girl that tore apart one of the only things that made me happy.
My phone vibrated on my friend Holly's bed, I went to her's just after work to chill out and relax for a bit. It had been a hectic week. I picked it up hoping it was from Michael. Things had been strained between us since that night. The night we almost overstepped all boundaries of our friendship. I'd taken a plunge in telling Holly about Luke and I, back when I was travelling around Australia with them, and she saw me at a night club in Adelaide. She was one person I could trust, much like Monti.
I picked up my phone, and sighed when I saw that it was from Adrian. Adrian is a guy both Holly and I work with. He's had the hots for me for sometime, and doesn't seem to take no for an answer. I opened the message and read it
From Adrian: you free tonight?
We'd been talking a little bit lately as our hours had been changed and we had lunch breaks together. He was still the same persistent asshole I met three years ago, when I first started working there.
To Adrian: I'm at Holly's. But I'm free later.
I don't know why I told him that, but I guess it would be nice to have some company tonight. Holly was going to see her boyfriend in a couple of hours, and Monti wasn't getting into Melbourne, until tomorrow morning. I didn't want to be alone.

FanfictionIt's funny how quickly things can change. One day Luke Hemmings was telling his girlfriend of ten months, Dana, how much he loves and misses her and two days later he's seen exiting an LA nightclub with the one and only Arzaylea. Dana and Luke had...
