My white, heeled boots clicked against the floor, echoing as I made my entrance into my headquarters. My hand held a blood covered dagger and as I walked straight over to my office, I made sure to swiftly shut and lock the door. Placing the dagger on my desk, I sat down in my chair and just blankly stared at the wall. Listening to every single clicking second that the clock made, I just sat here emotionlessly staring into space. I brought my hand over and placed it on top of my heart. For some apparent reason it ached horribly within my chest.
My heavy heart hurt as it was filled with sorrow. I had hurt him. I had hurt Shadow and had no remorse while doing it. Now that I sit here isolated, the regret was slowly getting catching up to me. Looking from the wall down to my laptop, I opened it up and quickly glanced at my reflection within the pixilated screen. As my finger slid over toward the power button, it stopped in its tracks. Startled, I quickly looked back up and at my reflection in the screen. My eyes widened in the shocking realization of the sight before me.
" What....in the world?"
I swiftly stood up and walked over to a little oval mirror that I had placed on my wall. Looking at my reflection, I shrieked, "No, this can't be!"
I moved my hand up to my hair. My long, light brown locks elegantly framed my face, but on the left side of my face was a chunk of jet-black strands. Swiftly moving, I walked back to my desk and picked up a pair of shiny, metal scissors. Going back to the mirror, I traced the black strands of hair up to the root and snipped them off. Angrily, I approached the garbage and disposed of the black strand. Right then, there was a sudden knock on my door.
" Just a second!" I screamed. I looked at myself in the mirror and saw that all of the strands of black hair were gone and unnoticeable. I swiftly ran over to the door, unlocked it, and the person who was on the other side of it twisted the doorknob and walked in.
" Nicco," I said, nodding my head toward him.
He nodded toward my direction, " Master Shizuka. It was weird not having you around for a little bit. What were you up to?"
" Nothing. I had some things to catch up on," I replied, turning to face him.
" That would explain the bleeding dagger on your desk?" He questioned, motioning his head toward my desk.
How in the world could I have forgotten to put that away? Clearly, I had to think of a quick cover up.
" Shizuka, whose blood is that?" He nearly screamed. Nicco's eyebrows pressed together in anger and confusion. There was nothing I could do other than to plaster a smirk on my face.
" Whose is it?" He pressed on in a demanding type of way. From his tone of voice, I could tell that he was very angry.
" Don't worry about it. It's no big deal."
" You have a blood covered knife on your desk. How is that not a big deal?" He said, holding his hands out in frustration.
"Look, it's really not that big of a deal, so forget that you even saw that."
"What is going on here? If you're trying to cover up evidence that's in plain sight, I can only image what else you're trying to cover up!" he yelled. "This is unbelievable. What has been with you lately?"
His words made anger surge within me. " To be frank, none of this is any of your business. There's things that I have to take care of and I don't need you questioning every motive that I have. Put yourself in check," I growled.
