The first night wasn’t as bad as I anticipated, really. I mean, I shared a bunk bed with Reiley and I got bottom. I didn’t have an issue, so I just went with it. Next night, though, Reiley offered to go up with me.
“Wanna go up?” she asked.
“I thought I had to stay here till the next mission?” I asked.
“As long as one of us watches you, you’re free to go anywhere.” Reiley answered. “Literally, everywhere.”
“I told you,” I lied. “I don’t know where they are.”
She shrugged, “You can lie to me all you want--”
“I’m not,” I snapped, already trying to control her mind. My eyes grew dark, but I controlled myself and shook myself away.
Reiley came up close to me, “What was with the eye color change?”
I tried to keep this away from her because I didn’t want to use it against Mikito or any of them later. So, again, I lied, “Something that my eyes do sometimes.”
“You sure? Because you seemed to go coo-coo.”
“I’m fine,” I snapped. “Now, we going out?”
“Yeah, just let me get my Sais.” She headed out and I had to follow her, or else I’d be in trouble, and I didn’t want that. We went to weaponry and got her Sais and my metal staff. Missed this thing…
Gesturing to her, we left the chapel and headed up, running around the roofs like the guys did. We even got bored and did some kind of flipping competition. I won. Heh. On one roof, I paused and looked up.
I didn’t realize where I was… The skating rink… And six familiar minds thinking about skating and me… Mikito the most. And she was looking right at me. Not wanting to deal with her, I followed after Reiley. She was waiting at the edge of one roof.
“You saw them, huh?” she asked.
“Yeah,” I nodded. “But they aren’t worth it tonight. And there were six of them, so we’d be outnumbered.”
“But you’re, like, ten ninjas in one with your skills.” Reiley pointed out.
“I didn’t want them to see me yet,” I told the truth finally. “Is that okay with you? I don’t want to switch.”
“Fine,” Reiley nodded. “I get it.”
“No, you don’t,” I growled. “Now can we continue going?”
“Sure. Just don’t go ninja on my shell.”
“Continue making me mad, I might. Wonder why the others wouldn’t get me mad?” I asked.
“Why?” she questioned.
