Back at the lair, I wondered what we could do to make sure we knew when the Kraang ship was coming and where it could be at. So, I turned to Donnie for some help.
“Alright, Donnie,” I said, looking at him. “Got anything to track the Kraang ship?”
We were all in the main room, so everyone turned to him when I spoke up. He looked at me with his T-Phone in his hand and I was already ready for a long explanation on what he’s created.
“Well,” Donnie started. “I made some devices to put up around the area to tell us when the Kraang ship is nearby. They produce invisible waves and then when it hits something, it will come back to the devices and come back through on my T-Phone.”
“So we go set up our own devices?” Mikito asked.
“Yeah,” Donnie answered. “We will get five each.”
“How big are they?” Natasha asked.
Donnie got one out. It was about the size of half of our palms. Natasha nodded and then Donnie continued on, “But if you’re putting some up, Natasha, then most of us will get four while one would get five.”
Natasha looked like she was about to argue about going, but I offered quickly, “I’ll carry five.” and she closed her mouth and nodded.
“That’s settled, then,” Donnie nodded. “I’ll get the others.” he left for his lab, and it took a few minutes before he came back out. He held six hand-held bags with clips. He gave us each our bag and we clipped them to our straps so we couldn’t have to deal with it.
“I also assigned us different areas,” Donnie said as we were about to go up. We paused as he continued. “Your areas are marked in the maps in your pouches.”
“I have a question,” Mikito said. Donnie looked at her and she asked, “Can I keep the bag to decorate it later?”
“Really?” Raph asked.
“Maybe,” Donnie answered her. “Just for now go set the devices up.”
We all nodded and I looked at Sophie before I left. She seemed a little disappointed for not being able to go. I smiled at her and she smiled back, then I followed the others out.
As we reached the top, we got into our pouches and looked at what areas we were supposed to place the trackers around. Since I had five, I had a bigger area marked. Everyone scattered, going in their separate directions, and I did as well.
I had placed four when I felt I was being watched. Going to a different section, I placed the last one and I really felt someone but I ignored it and called Donnie about the devices.
“I just got done.” I said.
“Good,” Donnie’s voice said through the phone on speaker. “The others are almost done as well.”
“Almost?” I asked. “They had four and me five.”
“But, they were busy talking with one another. Natasha and Mikito anyway… Raph and Mikey are done.”
“That’s a first.” I muttered. “Anyway, I’ll meet you back at the lair.”
“Alright,” Donnie said before hanging up.
Putting my T-Phone up, that watching feeling increased and I turned around, unsheathing my sword as Karai came from nowhere.
“I wanna help,” she said without any fight whatsoever.
That confused me a little so I sheathed my Katana back and asked, “With what?”
“The whole Kraang deal,” she answered. “If they want an invasion, I want to help stop it. We lived here first.”
“Well,” I said, not really sure if I wanted to trust her or not. “I’m not sure if the others would want you to help.”
“But I want to!” Karai said, looking at me.
We circled each other and I finally was near the edge of the roof. “Sorry, sister.” and I almost jumped down before someone knocked into me from coming up from beneath me. “Hey!”
I turned around and it was Naomi! She glared at me for a second before coming up next to Karai.
“You left?” Karai asked Naomi. “I thought you wanted to stay.”
“Predicted some trouble,” Naomi said blankly.
“Naomi!” I said, completely shocked that she was here. “What--?”
“Shut it, Leo.” she snapped. It made me shut my mouth very quickly. Her voice seemed harder. “Now, you were leaving if I’m not mistaken.” her blue eyes turned to me, but then, they weren’t the blue I knew… They were navy blue. Like Reiley’s bandana.
Nodding slowly, I jumped back off the roof. Somehow, I didn’t want to deal with Naomi. She seemed different. Mikito wouldn’t want to hear Naomi acting like this or she’d be crushed. I’ll just keep it to myself.
“By the way, Leo!” Naomi called from the roof. I turned around and both Karai and Naomi were staring at me. “You have no idea how true that last statement was!” then they both disappeared.
Again, it confused me, so I just walked back to the lair, careful of either of them following me.
