That night, I slept peacefully for once. No dreams, no nothing, but I thought I heard cackling in the background. So I woke up. I was in the sewer tunnels… Strange. I recognized the area, though, so I jumped in the water, coming up to surface.
I thought so… The old lair. But, why would I wake up in the tunnels near here? Something in my mind pulled me in deeper. Messing with me, I knew…
“I’m messing with you,” a voice said. It seemed close, yet it seemed far.
The place was deserted. I knew it was. I haven’t been here ever since I moved in with the guys. So, why was I here and so was the other voice?
“Hello?” I called out.
Nobody answered me, but a clattering from the dojo came, so I came in, looking around the room. I turned around, but smacked into the door. Backing up, I rubbed my nose and tried the handle. Locked.
Banging on the door loudly, I called out, “Hey! Let me out!”
“I can’t do that,” that voice hissed through the air. It sounded feminine, but I didn’t recognize it at all… Who was it?
“Who are you?” I called out. Nobody answered, so I tried again, “Who are you?”
“You should know, but I’ve changed so much…” the voice chuckled. As it grew silent again, the lights shut off. Now I was in the dark… Why? “Now,” the voice seemed a bit thoughtful as it continued, “what was those things called in that Who’s the Doctor episode? Vashten arada?”
Gulping, I pressed my shell up against the door. They aren’t real though! It was just a show…
“Now you’re learning,” the voice sounded like it was smiling.
I grabbed out my Katana, but it was useless. The voice seemed everywhere and the fact I was in the dark only seemed to worsen the possibility. But the voice was coming from a mouth that was coming from a body. If it came close, I’d know.
“You sure about that?” it asked. This time it sounded only in front of me. Not everywhere. Instead of swinging my sword down, I reached my hand out in closed it around pure air.
“Who are you?” I asked, putting my hand back on my Katana. “At least show yourself!”
“But the shadows for me are my likelihood.” the voice sounded. “It welcomes me. It comforts me. But I can’t seem to keep you here to learn the changes I’ve been through. The lessons I’ve learned. The surprises everyone will question.”
The voice… It couldn’t be…
“But I hope you’ve learned, Mikito, that dreams can turn into a horrible reality.”
“Naomi?” I asked.
The voice chuckled, “If only, Mikito… If only…”
Then the door behind me clicked open and the lights turned back on. I looked around. There was no trace that anybody was here. Only me and my thoughts and breathing. Was I going insane?
I turned around and I noticed on the ground on the other side of the door was the words written in cursive, “dreams turn into reality”. Then this whole scene reminded me of the dream I had. It was coming back now…
But, why now? I sheathed my Katana and left the old lair, walking into the one where I moved into. The boys were looking around and when they saw me, they looked at me weirdly.
“What?” I asked. They weren’t looking at me. They were looking behind me.
I turned around and on the wall now, was the same cursive writing in white chalk saying, “truths are sometimes lies”. We all walked over and I touched the word “lies” on the “s”.
“What’s going on?” I muttered. I turned around and Mikey was looking at my hands with a shocked look. When I looked, they were covered in black.
“What’s that, Mikito?” he asked.
“I don’t know…” I answered. With my right, I touched my left hand and wiped away the black that was coal dust by the looks of it.
Even Leo and Raph was looking at my hands. “Well that doesn’t include you in this writing…” Leo sighed.
Sophie came in, “No. She didn’t.”
“Then who?” Raph asked.
“Naomi,” Sophie said. “I saw her.”
“She wrote this?” I asked, pointing at the wall.
Sophie nodded and then shook her head. “But it wasn’t her at the same time. She was here one second, then the next, she was gone.”
“Then it’s not Naomi,” I said.
“But it was!”
“It must be some trick,” Donnie nodded.
“Or the lair’s haunted!” Mikey cried. He ran out of the tunnel with a shocked look. “The lair is haunted! The lair is haunted!”
Sophie looked at us each before frowning and walking off. I partly believed her because the sayings would be something Naomi said. The black on my hands were her bandana color, and then she does come and go.
So, then, why was it I woke up on my bed with white on the palms of my hands?
