Chapter 4

Flyby

Blüdhaven

Diana was carrying Jason by the shoulders and was flying back to Gotham with Barry following her from the ground. Dust was flying up behind Barry every time he took a step. He was running up buildings to see what was in the distance. Barry noticed he couldn't goes as fast as he wanted to, something was getting in his way but he didn't know was it was.

"I'm slowing down." Barry yelled to Diana and Jason who were flying above him. "I don't know why, I could still run at superhuman speeds but I'm slower, a lot slower."

"Maybe you're rusty." Jason said to Barry.

"That's not it. Something is slowing me down, I could feel it, I just don't know what it is." Barry replied.

"We'll figure it out at the cave." Diana stated as she saw the Man in the Yellow Suit leading one hundred of soldiers with three tanks behind them. "I see Thawne and his army. They're headed the same way as us, towards Gotham."

"I see them too, they're maybe half a mile away." Jason said. "We can't be up here, they could see us if they look behind their backs."

Diana hovered down to Barry, still carrying Jason. Once Jason's feet touched the sand, she let go. They stopped traveling to discuss how they were going to get back to Gotham without Thawne and his army noticing them. There were only four blocks of buildings left until it was all desert so there would be no shelter for the three to hide in.

"Before we start moving again, can I ask, who's Thawne?" Barry asked.

"Thawne is a speedster like you Barry. He even wears the same costume as you except it's has-," Diana couldn't finish.

"Reverse colors. I know what he's done, the Speed Force showed me who he was before it sent me here." Barry interrupted, "He took over by killing every political leader in the world."

"That's correct, it's amazing how people could go crazy without some to lead." Diana said.

"Or how they could lose their lives if they have a bad leader." Jason fired at Diana. "We need to get to Gotham before Thawne does, we can't afford to lose Gotham."

"How do we do that?" Barry asked, "There's not one building for us to hide in for about five miles after we get out of this town."

"I could fly us through the clouds, hiding us from Thawne." Diana stated.

"Do that." Jason commanded.

Diana picked Jason and Barry up by the shirts and flew up towards the clouds which were about six hundred feet in the air. Barry watched the ground as he saw clouds sand moving the opposite direction of him.

Barry then saw Thawne and his army. He noticed that Thawne was looking in their direction, smirking. He had a red shine in his eyes, probably a lightning effect. Thawne had a suit very similar to his. The suit yellow though and had a red, reverse, lightning bolt and not a yellow lightning bolt. Thawne looking in their direction had to be a coincidence, he couldn't see them from down there, there was was no chance. Barry decided to let it go and not worry about it, Thawne was probably just looking at the clouds.

After seeing Thawne's army and more sand Barry finally saw Gotham. Gotham actually kinda looked like a normal city. There were buildings that had no holes, electricity but no citizens. Everyone was probably inside hiding. Out of all the cities in the world, Gotham was the last one to survive.

"You fall asleep?" Jason laughed.

"No, just daydreaming." Barry answered with a smartass comment.

"We're almost at the cave." Diana stated as they approached a grassland. Barry realized the grassland was where the Wayne Manor used to be.

"Where's the Wayne Manor?" Barry asked.

"It was destroyed by gangs about a two decades ago." Diana stated. "Bruce's identity had gotten out before he died and on his twentieth anniversary of his death, gangs blew up the Manor."

"Diana, I'm sorry about what happened to Bruce." Barry gave his condolences.

"He was going to die eventually, I knew he'd die if he put the suit back on at his old age and that's exactly what he did. We all will, whether if it's old age, disease, it doesn't matter, even Superman died." Diana sighed.

They landed on the grasslands of where the Wayne Manor used to be. Diana let go of Jason and Barry when they were five feet from the ground then landed on the ground for herself. There was a patch in the ground of the grasslands and Jason opened it up. The patch was the entrance to the Batcave.

Barry jumped through the patch and saw that the Batcave was empty. There were only computers in the cave now, no more souvenirs, no more Batsuits, just computers. Barry saw Lex and Terry working on computers.

"Welcome to the Batcave, or what's left of it." Jason mumbled.
