Corruption

Invisible Jet

Barry walked up to Diana who was piloting the Invisible Jet. Barry was determined to change Diana back into the heroine she once was. She was sitting in the pilot seat, leaving the co-pilot seat open. Barry sat down in the co-pilot seat and watched out the window, wondering where Diana was taking them.

"Where are you taking us?" Barry asked.

"I don't know, I'm trying to look for refugee camp or any resistance but I haven't came across one yet." Diana replied.

"Diana, I've been meaning to ask you for a while, I hope you don't mind but what happened? What happened to your morals? I know Terry mentioned that you saw every Justice League member die but that can't be it, can it?" Barry said.

"It's not. This isn't the first time I've turned on my moral values." Diana explained. "Before all this happened, I got trapped on Earth 50, the world of the Justice Lords for over 40 years. That world changed me. On that world, Superman and Wonder Woman were corrupt with power. The Bruce Wayne of that Earth was trying to defeat them, so I joined him. Eventually, I fell in love with the Bruce. We eventually got married. However, Lady Wonder Woman, the Justice Lords' Wonder Woman ended Lord Batman's life, my husband's life, by snapping his neck. On that day, I turned on the values that my mother had taught me, that the League had taught me, and got revenge. When I came back to this Earth, I turned back to the values that I had learned here. It was easy though, easy for me to want to kill again, easy for me to turn on my values again. Once you cross that line, you'll never go back, even when you thought you did. It'll be easier for you to keep crossing the line over and over again. That's what I did when I saw all my friends die. I killed again, I became the woman I was on the Justice Lords' Earth. I was no better than Lady Wonder Woman, the woman my husband was trying to defeat."

"You guys really have gone through a lot..." Barry sighed.

"More than a lot." Diana corrected. Diana showed Barry her black Lasso of Truth, "This isn't even my original Lasso of Truth."

"I noticed, it's black now. Spray paint?" Barry joked.

"No, my original Lasso of Truth perished in my hands after I ended Lady Wonder Woman's life. The day my husband died, the day I first killed, that was the day I learned you had to be worthy to yield the Golden Lasso of Truth. You had to have a pure heart." Wonder Woman said. "Things corrupt even the best of us, Barry. No one who's perfect will stay perfect. It just takes one mistake, one bad-"

"Day." Barry finished Diana's sentence. "What about one good day? Does it take one good day to turn the worst of us into good people?"

"No, that's not how it works Barry. It's harder to become good, rather than become bad." Diana answered.

"Why is that?" Barry questioned.

Diana couldn't think of an answer, "I don't know the reason, Barry. I just know that's the way it is."

"I know why, because it's easier to be the bad guy. Wake up Diana, being the good guy was never an easy thing, especially with all the evil in the world. The truth though, with all the darkness in the world, there is always light. I know you all can change and still beat Thawne. We beat our enemies in the past without killing, without murder. We could do it today." Barry encouraged, "I know we live in a different time, I know we lost loved ones, but that doesn't mean we have to kill. We can be pure good. We can be the heroes we used to be, I know it. I can see it."

"Barry, you're living in a fantasy land. It's easy to say but not to do." Diana replied.

Barry sighed and got out of the co-pilot and walked to the middle of the jet and sat passenger seat with his hands on his face. Maybe Barry couldn't change Diana, maybe he couldn't change any of them. Barry gave up and fell asleep
