Chapter 20

First Confrontation

Metropolis Rooftops

Lex, Barry, and Thawne were all on the top of a building. Lex and Barry were staring down Thawne, who was laughing at them. Barry clinched his fists, this was the man who caused all this chaos and Barry had a chance to take him down.

"So Lex, how's it going? We haven't spoken in a very, very long time." Thawne asked Lex, ignoring Barry.

"How do you think it's going!? You caused this hellhole of a world... And you want to know how it's going?" Lex yelled at Thawne.

"It was a rhetorical question Lex, I thought you'd know that." Thawne told Lex. "I see you have a new friend who looks a lot like me."

"You son of a bitch Thawne! Why the hell did you cause this?" Barry questioned.

"You're friend seems nice." Thawne said to Lex. "What's his name? Barry?"

"How the hell do you know my name!?" Barry yelled.

"I know everything on this Earth. I know that you've been causing a lot of trouble, Barry." Thawne stated.

"Enough talking." Lex said as he got out his wrist rockets and aimed them at Thawne.

Lex fired them and they shot out three miniature rockets towards Thawne. Thawne got each rocket and sent them towards Barry. Barry dodged each rocket and ran towards Thawne, trying to deliver a blow to the face with his right hand. Thawne caught Barry's right and hand slammed Barry on the ground.

Thawne ran over to Lex, smiling at him. Lex tried throwing a swing punch to the right of Thawne's head but Thawne put his arm out before Lex's hand could even come close to Thawne's face. Thawne kneed Lex in the stomach, causing Lex a lot of pain. Thawne was strong, much stronger than Barry. Thawne then pushed Lex into a shed and ripped off Lex's visor that was covering his face.

"Oh Lex..." Thawne started off, "You're going to pay for your broken promises."

"You killed every political leader in the world!" Lex said as he lied down. Thawne had his foot on Lex's chest. "I didn't approve the bill to send you back home because of that!"

"That was after you broke your promises." Thawne informed, "And you blame me too much for their deaths. Every political leader in the world was crooked. They hired me to kill each other Lex! I couldn't believe you were so blind! The political leaders were no better than me, Lex. The only man who wasn't crooked was the US President, you. However, you broke your promise Lex. You promised to send me back home."

Barry got up and ran over to Thawne. Barry pushed Thawne off of Lex and onto the ground. "That's enough."

"You don't understand Barry, you don't understand what I've been through." Thawne told Barry.

"I know it's not enough to justify you're actions." Barry replied.

"You don't know that!" Thawne shouted. "I wasn't the one to cause this all. I was only a messenger who took advantage after the leaders who sent him on his adventures died."

"What do you mean?" Barry asked opening his fists.

"The political leaders, they caused this. I was only a hitman, a messenger." Thawne said. "They hired me to kill each other. All I did was take advantage after they were all dead, well all except one. And that one, was the most naïve out of them all, Lex Luthor. He could've prevented this all, if only he opened his eyes."

"I- I don't believe you." Barry stuttered.

"All I wanted to do was get back home, back to the future." Thawne informed Barry. "They promised me I would be able to go back home for free. Then I got my powers, the same way you did. That's when they revealed themselves. After I got my powers, they commanded me to kill each other. If I did what they wanted me to do, I would somehow be sent home. When they were all dead, I realized there was no way to send me home. I was being played. I tried breaking the time barrier multiple times but I wasn't fast enough. After trying to break the time barrier, I realized the world was in chaos, so I started my order. I became the ruler. I was never a bad guy, Barry. I was only a man being played and I want my revenge against the man who denied a bill to send me home."

"No, this can't be true." Barry cried. "So you're a time traveler? Like me?

"Yes." Thawne stated, "And all I want is my revenge and to get home. I know you can get me home. I know your speed has no limit. I will give you all my speed, so you can change the past and so I could get home. I just need my revenge."

Lex shot Thawne in the back with a handgun, point blank. The bullet hit Thawne's shoulder, causing him to bleed. Thawne ran over to Lex and picked him up by the front of his Exo suit. Thawne started vibrating his hand. Barry ran over to Thawne, trying to stop him. Thawne pushed Barry on the ground.

"Goodbye Lex." Thawne said.

"Run Barry! Get out of here!" Lex commanded. "That's an order!"

Barry ran away, back towards the abandoned US Army Base. Thawne vibrated his right hand into Lex's chest, stopping his heart. As Lex's heart stopped, Thawne's right hand was cut off by Lex's Exo suit. Thawne screamed. Lex's Exo suit's density had changed when Lex's heart stopped. Thawne pulled his hand out of Lex's body to find that his hand wasn't there anymore. His arm was bleeding out. Thawne vibrated his arm that was missing a hand. He regenerated skin cells where he was bleeding. However, he was still handless.

"I will find you Barry Allen and I will get home." Thawne watched as Barry ran off. "When you get to know me more, you will hate me. However, you need me to get home."
