Chapter 11
Men Are Still Good
Invisible Jet
Barry walked up to Lex, who was sitting down near the front of the Invisible Jet, working on his computer. Lex was still in his suit, he couldn't survive without it. Lex was looking at the technology LexCorp had developed. Luthor clearly still was concerned about LexCorp, even through the hells that him, Diana, and Terry have gone through. Lex was a businessman, always was, always will be.
"Really Lex?" Barry asked, he still didn't like Lex. "Thawne's ruling the world and the world is a lifeless desert and you're concerned about LexCorp?"
"No Barry, I'm trying to figure out what technology I could develop to help us to defeat Thawne." Lex replied. "That's all I've been concerned about. I don't want to live in this hellhole, I want to change the past so we don't have to suffer though all this horseshit anymore. I'm not getting distracted like the others. I'm not stupid like them, I care about who's our leader but that's not my main concern unlike Terry and Diana. I care about stopping Thawne, they don't seem to care but someone has to. I care about the world Barry."
"That's funny, you actually care about the world." Barry fired.
"I've always cared about the world, Barry. Even when I was enemies with Kal, I still cared about the world. I've always cared for it's safety, for it's protection. I may have wanted to put the Justice League down but through all that ruthlessness, I never wanted any harm to come to this world. Now, did I cause harm? Yes, I did but that was a long time ago. Through my years of age, I came to realize that Kal El wasn't our enemy, no one in the League was." Lex explained.
"Lemme ask you something Lex, did you encourage everyone to become murderers? Did you convince everyone to be as bad as the things we used to fight?" Barry questioned.
"No Barry, I didn't, in fact, I wanted Diana and Terry to stay the way they were before all this, I encouraged them to do so. They were pure good, perfect. Now, Jason and I were a different story. We weren't pure good, we weren't perfect. We were criminals trying to do the right thing. I knew we couldn't change, so I didn't try and change what I couldn't." Lex answered. "There was a balance. When they finally did become like us, things changed and I agree, not for the better. However, just because men aren't perfect doesn't mean they aren't good. Men are still good, Barry. We aren't perfect like we used to be but that doesn't make us evil. We still want good for this world. Look, I'm not a bad guy, I'm not like I used to be. If I were in your shoes, I'd be like you, questioning everything I've done, every move I make. But I'm here to tell you Barry, I've changed, for the better."
Barry sighed. Maybe Luthor really had changed for the better. Maybe Barry was wrong about Luthor, he really was a good guy now. Barry realized he was wrong about Luthor. A long minute of silence passed between the two.
"Look, Lex, I'm sorry about how I reacted to you." Barry stated, "I was judging you by the past, that's my fault."
"I understand." Lex stated as went to work on his computer. Lex had a humble voice. "If you don't mind Barry, I have some work to do. I work best alone, in my own space-"
"Yeah, it's fine, I gotta talk to Diana." Barry said as he left the room. Barry went to go talk to Diana and ask her what she thought about this dystopian future.
