CHAPTER 8: KILL ME NOW
BEEP BEEP BEEP
I reached over to my alarm and grumbling I snoozed it. Why do we have to go to school everyday? Why can't they make school start at noon, I think the attendance might be higher. Well at least it was Friday. I smiled sleepily to myself. Wait... its Friday! I sprang up in my bed, a little too fast since I got lightheaded immediately after. I wasn't sure if I was excited to go to Ryan's or if I was dreading it. It's just a project Beth, nothing less, nothing more.
I groggily rolled off my bed and landed on the floor with a thump. I laid there on my stomach letting out a groan. With all my morning strength I pushed myself off the floor and walked over to my closet. It was really cold outside, colder than it had been when I first arrived to Fort Collins, Colorado. In fact, it looked like it was about to start pouring. This was definitely different than the weather in Los Angeles. I walked over to my window and peered through the curtain, it looked gloomy outside, dark ominous looking clouds covered the entire sky. Not one piece of blue sky was to be seen. I loved this weather! I got excited and half skipped back over to my closet. Luckily I had some warm clothes that I had bought before moving.
Rifling through my clothes, I opted for a black long sleeve, and a thick cardigan that had some cute beige, brown, and black design on it. Then I walked over to my dresser and I chose some black leggings to wear under some black jeans. I found a cute beige scarf lying around and I grabbed that too. I completed the outfit with some brown studs and some tall red rain boots, just in case it decided to start pouring.
I ran down my stairs in a hurry straight to the kitchen.
"Hi sweetie."
"Hi mom, please don't call me that, it makes me feel like a child."
The thing I loved about my mom, is that she understood things like this, and she didn't take offense to them. She chuckled lightly and said "okay".
"How is my lovely daughter doing this morning?" My dad smiled big at me, and I couldn't help but smile back.
"She is doing fine, but you and mom are scaring me. You guys are too chipper." I looked at both of them and scrunched up my face.
"Is today Friday? It is isn't it. How could we forget Cathy! Today is the day that our Beth starts her project with the boy shes madly in love with." He smirked at his last comment. I could see that his eyes were shining with mischief.
They just loved to get on my case about boys. Once we went to the supermarket, to THE SUPERMARKET! And what did they do?! They told the cashier that they could see that he had love for me in his eyes. For the next month they talked to me about our wedding. I knew they liked to mess with me like that though.
I looked at him, whined, and stomped my foot, just like a little kid would. "Daaaaad! Stop iiiiiiit. I don't even love him." I smacked his arm playfully. I grabbed an orange and started walking toward the door. "I gotta go I'll see you guys later."
In perfect unison my parents yelled out to me as I was walking out our red door that oddly matched my rain boots. "Bye we love you!"
**********
I walked into the halls of my school, just like I had been doing every day since I got here. I saw Nicki standing against one of the lockers, and for a brief moment I had been reminded of that horrible first day of school when she had been rude to me, and Ryan had saved me in a way I guess. I also realized that she hadn't bothered me in a while.
"Oh Bethany." Her shrilly voice rang in my ears. I had spoken too soon. "Bethany wait up!" She actually ran to catch up with me. I stopped to let her catch up. She smiled at me, and I just looked at her with a completely confused expression on my face.
