CHAPTER 39:
-Many years later-
I was in the bed of the hospital, holding a beautiful baby boy in front of me. I looked at the man sitting beside me, my husband. I wasn't sure if my life had turned out the way I was expecting, but I could honestly not ask for anything better.
Being in the hospital had brought back so memories. I was just glad that this time it was a happy occasion. Oh there were still tears, but this time they were happy tears.
"How are you doing beautiful."
"Are you talking to our beautiful son or the woman who just gave birth?" I asked laughing.
"Both," he smiled such a charming smile.
"Well I am doing fine, thank you for asking." I smiled at him and smiled at our son.
The nurse came into the room at the moment and asked the exact same question, well minus the beautiful part. Instead, from her I got "hon."
I gave her the same response with a big smile on my face.
"Well that is very very good. And look at that lovely boy you have right there. He is going to be a heartbreaker I can tell."
I laughed. "Well I hope he won't be a heartbreaker."
"But he will have good lucks." My amazing husband said.
I felt like I had known him forever, and for some reason I could not stop looking at him with admiration plastered on my face. After being creepy and staring, I looked down at our son again.
I held this new life in my hands, and saw as his eyes were shut peacefully, as he was sleeping. At that moment, I had a sudden flash of the life that I had lived, and the night under the stars with Ryan. That had been a long time ago, but our conversation was still almost fresh in my mind.
I turned once again to the man beside me and smiled. It was then that I realized exactly what I wanted to name our son. So when the nurse asked, I knew exactly what to say, and had to hope that my husband would agree.
"Caleb." I said. "I want to name him Caleb." I looked to the left of me nervously, but his smile showed that he agreed.
"And his middle name Michael."
I nodded in agreement.
"All right," the nurse said, "it seems you two have figured it all out. Let me tell you, not everyone does." She chuckled and began to write the name down.
Our son was going to grow up with two loving parents and amazing grandparents. No matter what, we would be there for him.
I looked over to the charming man beside me, cooing at our son.
Caleb Michael Bray.
Our son.
"I love you Ryan."
He leaned over and kissed our son and then kissed me. "Love you more."
At the same time we leaned down and kissed Caleb. "I love you," we said at the same time.
And then we leaned in and kissed once again.
