CHAPTER 15: WELL THAT WAS UNEXPECTED

*A dream*

There was a little girl, laughing with joy at something. She looked up and it was a woman talking to her sweetly. Behind her, the walls were covered in pink. The woman got the little girl dressed in warm clothes, talking to her the whole time. "We're going to the snow sweetie." Whoever the little girl was, was ecstatic at hearing the news. Or maybe, it was just the way the mom, or who I assumed was the mom, was talking to the little girl. Her parents took her into the car and kept talking to the little girl and sweetly as they possibly could. It was cold outside, the windows were starting to frost from the cool temperature. The little girl raised her hand up to touch the glass as she squealed in delight. The mom turned around to the little girl and told her, "We're going to have so much fun baby girl." The little girl smiled big, and said, "I know momma." I couldn't see the little girl's face. I could only see the parents, yet I knew the little girl smiled. The mom leaned over to the dad and she touched his arm, she gave him a look that was only meant for parents to understand, I guess. He looked over at her, and he nodded.

A few more minutes passed and the little girl started clapping happily. "We're here momma. We're here daddy!" Both her parents looked back at her and smiled. They got out of the car along with the little girl. She grabbed both her dad's hand and her mom's hand and she started pulling them with her toward the snow. She jumped up and down happily, letting her small feet stomp on the mushy snow. "Come on sweetie." The little girl's mom took her deeper into the snow. The cold air was hitting them, causing the little girl to squeal again in delight. They finally got to an open clearing, where families were, and where you could hear a lot of little kids laughing. The little girl looked up to her mom and smiled. Then she looked at her dad and smiled at him to. She moved forward quickly and hugged them both by the legs. Her parents looked at each other. The little girl squatted down and picked up a fistful of snow. Her mother spoke to her. "Stay right here sweetie. Okay?" The little girl dropped the snow and stood upright. "Where are you going momma?" Her dad spoke up. "To the car, we're going to bring a blanket. We'll be right back okay? Don't move." The little girl smiled, accepting their answer and squatted back down. She picked up two fistfuls of snow. Her parents walked away and she stayed, playing in the snow. She counted to 100. She knew that they would be back by then. But when she counted to 100, they weren't. She counted to 100 again. They still weren't back. She let go of the snow and hugged herself. She was getting cold. The cold wind was blowing on her face, making her shiver. She looked around but couldn't see her parents anywhere. She was scared.

BZZZZZ.......BZZZZZ......BZZZZZZ

I groaned. What now? I reached over and grabbed my phone. The screen informed me that I had a missed call from my mom. I called her back and the minute I did the doorbell rang. I got up off my bed at the same time that I started talking to my mom.

"You called?" I asked trying to hold back a yawn.

"Yeah. Can you open the door please? It's freezing outside."

I closed my eyes and yawned. She wasn't supposed to be here. She was supposed to be out with Barbara, so I had no idea what she was doing back home. The doorbell rang again. "Yeah, let me just brush my teeth and I'll be right down I promise!" I hung up the phone and I ran to my bathroom and grabbed my toothbrush, hurrily wetting it and then putting toothpaste on the brush. I brushed my teeth quickly and ran down the stairs. The doorbell rang again. "COMING! SORRY!" I hoped that I had yelled loud enough for my mom to hear. I rushed to the door and opened it. "Sorry m-" I stared at the person in front of me.

Ryan?

"We need to talk Beth." He put his hand up and pushed past me into my house.

Well alrighty then.
