A/N So I wasn't planning on updating today but I did for @that_kid9222 :)
I'm sorry if this chapter isn't that great guys. I need a few filler chapters to get where I want to go with this story. So don't forget that if you have any comments feel free to leave them :)
CHAPTER 29: BACK IN THE HOUSE OF HORROR
I felt horrible. That's the only thing that was on my mind the entire morning. I was sure that I was already starting to get purple bags, and not the kind that I would have liked.
I called Ryan to try to ease this gut wrenching feeling that I had going on in my stomach. I called him, but after ringing a few times, the call went to voicemail. I tried not to let this make me feel worse, but I didn't exactly succeed. As much as I tried not to let it happen, I ended up feeling worse afterward. I waited for a while (I figured he was just busy) and then I called him again.
This time, he answered on the second ring.
"Beth?"
I raised an eyebrow up. Why was he confused as to why I would have called him?
"Beth."
He sounded exhausted. "Ryan, did I wake you up or something?"
He waited for a while. "Yeah. But it's okay. What's wrong?"
I hesitated before replying. There was something he wasn't telling me. "Nothing, just stuck in his hellhole. Same 'ol, same 'ol. But I should be asking you that."
"What do you mean?" He asked me.
At that moment, Julia walked in. She had to have the best timing in the world. I mean, really. I overheard them talking, Julia and George. George was already starting to get tired of it. I mean, he had already gotten tired of me regardless, but now that I was under his temporary custody, I guess he couldn't handle that. And Julia I was trying to figure out now.
"Bethany are you hungry?" She looked at me and then glanced at the phone in my hand. "No phones allowed."
I looked at her very annoyed. "Not hungry, and that's dumb."
Ryan stayed quiet on the other line. I was sure that he couldn't have heard Julia talking, but he probably knew that she was talking to me.
She kept talking. "It's not dumb. George just feels that it would be best for you not to have any contact with anyone else when you are inside this house."
Rolling my eyes, I turned on my side so that my face was hidden from her. A few seconds later, I heard the door quietly being closed. Once I was sure that no one could hear, I resumed my conversation with Ryan.
Before I could get a word in, Ryan spoke. "How'd the sleepover go?"
"It was really good. But why are you avoiding my question? What's wrong?" I responded back.
Wherever he was, it was quiet, and the only sound I could hear through the phone, was Ryan taking a huge breath, a heavy sigh. "It's fine."
"Obviously not." I told him quietly. "Please just tell me," I pleaded.
He paused, as if thinking this over a few times. "My mom has just been on my case lately."
This struck me as odd. From the time I had known them, his mom was never one to "be on his case."
"Can you elaborate for me please? Because that doesn't sound like your mom."
"Look I don't want you to worry because it is literally nothing. The other day I hadn't eaten practically anything and I had barely drank any water so I got lightheaded and almost fell while walking down the stairs. Then my mom gets on my case about how that's bad for my health and stuff."
