CHAPTER 30: IF I WANTED TO GET TREATED LIKE THIS I WOULD HAVE GONE HOME

I was groggy when I woke up. Thankfully there was no sun outside so the sunlight could not blind me awake. I looked at my phone and almost dropped it in shock when I saw that it was almost noon. The upper half of my body sprung up from the bed. With my hair messily in my face I couldn't see anything, so with my hands I ungracefully swatted the hair away from my eyes and mouth.

Why didn't Ryan wake me up? Ugh Julia is going to kill me, and George will kill me again after that.

I hurriedly got off the bed, brushed my teeth, took a quick shower, and got dressed. Still no sign of Ryan. Quietly but quickly I tiptoed down the stairs, although there was no way that anyone else was still asleep. Well, maybe Parker. Parker liked sleep. Kind of reminded me of someone I knew (me).

When I got to the bottom, there was Ryan sitting lazily at the counter. I cleared my throat and he turned around.

"Morning."

I chuckled half-heartedly and walked over to him to put my arms around him. "Good morning babe."

He gave me half a smile and looked ahead of him. I released my arms from around him and stared at him, confused.

"Uhm, is something wrong?"

"No."

I got a one word answer. That was great. "Okay, are you sure?"

"I said nothing was wrong didn't I?"

I took a step back at him, a tint of anger starting to appear on my face. "Okay I didn't ask you to get all moody with me. Sorry for being a girlfriend that cares about her boyfriend."

"Beth it's not that."

"Then why are you being like this?" I said, my voice cracking with the last words spoken.

He couldn't even look me in the eye. He just glanced at me and then kept staring straight ahead and gave me his answer. "I don't know."

I took another step away from him and scoffed. "Yeah that's great Ryan. It's so fan-freakin-tastic. You know, if I wanted to get treated like this I would have gone home."

I started walking toward the stairs when I heard the chair scrape against the floor and footsteps following me. "Beth please, I'm sorry."

I stopped abruptly and turned to look at him. You know when a person is angry and they use their hands to communicate? Well that was me. In an acerbic tone and with my hands waving wildly in the air I responded to his sorry. "Yeah? Sorry about what Ryan? Right now or how about for how you've been acting toward me lately? Or, or do you mean sorry again like how you said sorry last night? Yeah I heard that. And I don't know what you're hiding but I would appreciate it if you could just tell me."

"I didn't think you were awake."

"Real-" I put my hands up in frustration and let out a mad groan. "I, I dont-UGH!!" I turned around and started walking up the stairs.

I wasn't sure whether Ryan was starting to mad or frustrated or what. "Now what Beth?" He started following me up the stairs and almost ran into me when I decided to stop again.

"That is ALL that you got from what I said Ryan. Did you tell me why you're sorry? No. Did you tell me what you meant last night? No. Or how about the other stuff that I said, did you answer that? No. You just decided to go with whatever you wanted."

Now he was mad. "Obviously I meant sorry for getting all what did you say, oh yeah moody with you. The sorry from last night I meant sorry for being distant okay? I don't know what you want from me, I really don't. Sorry for being a bad boyfriend okay? Sorry for not being perfect. Is that what you want to hear?" He slammed the banister, causing me to jump.
