A/N
This chapter was hard to write only because it seemed more boring to me than other chapters. It feels more like just a filler chapter to me. But keep reading and I promise it'll get better :)
Happy reading!
CHAPTER 21: A COUPLE OF WEIRDOS
We held hands as we walked into school and I tried to hide myself behind him. His body moved slightly up and down and I bumped his leg for laughing at me. This was going to be the first time that we came out as a couple, well considering the fact that we had only recently gotten together, it made sense.
We got the stares of the baseball team as we passed them in the hallway and Nicki stopped what she was doing and stared at us too, except that her stare had quickly turned into her smiling. I looked away and we walked into our class a few minutes early.
"Good morning Mrs. Demassi," we said in perfect unison.
"Good morning kids. I guess my scheming payed off."
I gasped. "So you were trying to set us up!"
She laughed. "I thought it was obvious that I was."
Ryan chuckled and pulled me towards our seats in the back of the classroom. He sat down in my chair and I gave him a look of disapproval.
"I will sit on you if you don't get out of my seat."
"I will push you off."
I snatched my hand away from him to hold it up to my heart dramatically, letting out a gasp in the process as well.
"Beth, find your own seat, stop trying to steal mine. Relax." He put up his hand as if telling me to stop and I quickly high fived it and then sat in his usual seat. The bell rang and students starting coming in. I felt my hair being slightly tugged and it was Ryan playing with my hair. I loved it when people played with my hair and the fact that it was Ryan doing that made it even better. I could have fallen asleep right then and there, but of course I didn't.
I looked towards the door and Nicki walked in with Jacob and she caught me staring. Before I had the chance to look away she smiled at me. I smiled back and THEN looked away. The rest of the class went by like any normal day in this class would. The only difference was that I felt content.
The bell rang and since I had to make it to my next class before it started, I couldn't wait for Ryan to finish packing up all his things. I gave him a quick peck on the lips before leaving the classroom. I walked out at the same time as Nicki and she stopped me.
"Hey!"
I turned. Things weren't bad with her anymore, but for some reason I still felt as if Ryan could and would choose her over me. They had history.
"What's up?" I smiled at her.
"I don't want things to be weird between us. I know that I treated you badly and I just, well I've apologized before but I'm still sorry and I feel like a part of you worries that I'm going to try to steal Ryan. I want you to know that I'm not, like I've been completely over it. I know when a girl says that like it makes a person think the exact opposite of what they said, but please trust me on this. I'm really happy with Jacob and we're seeing how things go, and I'm really happy for you and Ryan. I just wanted you to know."
It alleviated my fears a little but it was just the insecurities in me that kept me thinking about how I was replaceable. I kept the smile on my face though. "Thanks Nicki." I knew that she meant it, and I meant what I said too.
Ryan walked out at that moment and Nicki had left. He did not ask any questions, and I had not expected him to. I grabbed his hand and he walked me to my next class, since I wasn't going to make it before class started anyway.
