Chapter 33

I wanted to wipe that smirk off of his face, but I refused to let him see me sweat. Or in this case, let him see that he pissed me off.

Besides, I had the upper hand right now.

I knew what he was waiting on. I'd asked, but I'm not stupid either.

Facts:

1. He has a one way plane ticket awaiting him at the airport right now;
2. he's been checking his phone constantly for the past 2 hours; and

3. he personally came here to tell me that my stepmother was here;

oh and 4. he 'suggested' something to her during a previous phone call.

There was definitely something more going on here. And it had to have something to do with all of the shipments and inventory that never really arrived here. Not to mention the requested books and supplies for teachers that simply did not exist.

That ...suppository face was up to something. And he wasn't going to get away with it. But first, I needed to get that woman off of my turf.

Ashley Waters was my territory.

Sure I had to share it with Rocky and Greg, but in regards to my personal and school life? The two simply did not mix. Not now that Bryan was no longer here.

I realized that I was stomping with every step, but I didn't really care if anyone heard my footsteps. I was nearing the office-- where Hendricks said he left my "stepmother"-- and my fists clenched tighter with every lost inch between us.

I didn't truly hate the woman. Or at least I think I didn't.

But why was she here? Other than putting on a show for my father, she and I had no real reason to ever interact. I knew she didn't like me, and would squash me like a bug if she could, but that only served to make this whole ordeal even more annoying.

It was even more horrifying when I made it to the office and saw what she was wearing.

Her hair was curled and tucked behind her ears, showcasing gigantic yellow earrings. Her makeup appeared flawless and she looked like she had found a fountain of youth, or drank a lot of virgins' blood like the witch she was. Either way, she didn't look old enough to have two teenage children at this school let alone be the stepmother of another.

Her top was tied in a knot above her belly button, and her jeans--capris--were rolled up to just below her knees with a matching yellow flower belt. She looked like .... hell she looked like she was trying to be the next Prom Queen. What the hell was happening to my life?!

Unconsciously, I shuffled around and fidgeted with my own clothing

Unconsciously, I shuffled around and fidgeted with my own clothing. I couldn't stop my gaze from roving over myself and pointing out how different we looked. She almost made me feel....frumpy.

As if noticing my gaze, she pasted on a smile--for who I'm not sure because the secretary obviously couldn't care less--and came towards me where I stood, still casting my shadow in the doorway as if even my body was repelled by the thought of entering the same space as this woman.

"Saaang," she ...well, she sang. Ew, she sang my name. "I'm here to pick you up for our Girl's Day! Isn't that just wonderful," she grinned and put her arms around me in a hug.

I wondered how far she would take this. Maybe she thought the secretary cared enough about her to still be paying attention.

I stared silently before demanding "What in the world are you doing here and what are you wearing?"

Her eyes narrowed as she pouted and looked down at her clothing. "Marie picked it out for me, she said it would look amazing on me. I think so as well." I could only shake mg head in response.

She then backed away and patted me on the head like a dog. "First," she said, slipping her arm around mine and practically smashing me into the wall/door-hinge as we exited (me a bit reluctantly of course) the room and eventually the school.

___Help if you Can/ Want to___

if you have read this story and remember at least some of it, can you summarize what you've read so far? It doesn't have to be really detailed and it doesn't have to be long (unless you want to make it so). I just dont want to leave anything out.

Also, EmileeMonroe (forgive me please if I misspelled it) already let me know of the plot hole regarding Gabriel being stabbed and I'll fix that in editing. I want you guys' summaries so that I can make sure I dont leave anymore huge plot holes like that.
