Even though I've had a long day, and even though it's 10 PM, I can't sleep that night. I toss and turn for what seems like hours. Finally, I give up and lace my sneakers on. I put my switchblade in its usual place in my pocket. I grab a drachma from my stash and climb out the window. I slip and almost fall. Luckily, I am able to grab the ledge before I do. Curse this brand new mansion!
I walk into the woods. After walking for a while, I come across a waterfall. I throw the drachma into the mist, and ask Iris to show me Annabeth at Camp Half Blood. The mist shimmers, and a fuzzy image of my sister appears. She is laying on her bed reading a book. As the image comes into focus, I start to laugh. Maybe I had too much smile dip at Mabel's.
Annabeth is startled. She jumps up and drops her book. "Izzy? Wha- What's wrong with you! You nearly gave me a heart attack!"
I continue to laugh and she joins in, too. After we stop laughing she asks me, "How's Gravity Falls?"
"Great, actually! Pacifica is not the person she used to be. Her parents, on the other hand..."
"What about them?"
"I don't know. They're just so stuck up! They're getting me a new wardrobe tomorrow. And a stylist. And Pacifica is just plain miserable."
"When I was 12, my stepmom was scared of me, so I can relate. Sort of." Annabeth checks her watch. "Ugh. If I don't get to bed soon, Percy's gonna have to deal with a very grumpy girlfriend throughout the day."
"Yeah, I'd better get back, too." I say, slightly disappointed.
"Hey, we can talk tomorrow" says Annabeth.
"Kay. G'night Annabeth."
"Bye, Izzy." I wave my hand through the mist, and the image disappears.
When I turn around, I see Dipper staring at me with his mouth wide open. How long had he been standing there?
"H-how... How did you do that?!" he shrieks in a rather girly manner.
I decide to play dumb. "What do you mean?"
"That thing with the water!"
"Mist"
"Whatever! How did you do that?!" he says, pulling a blue and white journal similar to Wendy's hat out of his vest. He takes a pen out from his pocket and begins to write.
"Uh..." then I do what demigods do best. I run.
Dipper runs after me. He takes out a flashlight with a crystal attached to the top. When he turns it on, I shrink. Literally. He picks me up by the back of my shirt.
"Hey! Let me go!" I say. CRAP! Am I on helium?! I repeatedly kick his hand. Then I get an idea.
"LOOK, IT'S DIPPY FRESH!" I scream.
"Where?!" he whirls around. I free myself. You'd think I would have thought about my landing.
"Oh no, you don't!" he says before catching me in the palm of his hand.
I sigh. "Fine. Let's make a deal."
"Wait. A deal? You work for Bill, don't you?!"
"What? That triangle guy? The dream demon? NO!"
"Then how do you know who he is?"
"Mabel told me! Look, maybe we're both being paranoid. How about you turn me back to my original size, and I'll tell you about my past. Then you can tell me about your past. Because clearly, I'm not the only one with secrets."
Reluctantly, he puts me down and turns me back to normal.
"Let's start with you. How did you talk to that girl with that waterfall?" he says.
"She's my sister."
"Tell. Me. Now."
I take a deep breath. It's going to be a long talk. "Ever heard of the Greek gods?"
