"Let me get this straight. You're telling me that your dad had an affair with the Greek goddess Athena..."
"Correct"
"And died in a car crash 11 years later."

"You were sent to an orphanage where you had no friends but your guardian, a satyr..."

"Who took you to a camp for demigods after fighting a hydra."
"Fighting and defeating."
"You'd think I wouldn't believe you, but I do. Because I've been through... supernatural incidents myself."
"Do tell" I say.
"Okay. Ah, Summer break. A time of leisure, recreation, and taking 'er easy. Unless you're me." starts Dipper.
"Nice intro."
"Thanks."
Dipper proceeds to tell me about how on his first day in Gravity Falls, he found a red journal. It had a gold 6-fingered hand with a number 3 on it. It contained drawings of strange creatures and codes. He spent all Summer trying to find the Author, when the whole time it was Stan's twin brother, Ford. Ford offered Dipper an apprenticeship, and Dipper almost took it, but Weirdmageddon happened, the journals were burned, Mabel got trapped in her own fantasies, and Dipper realized he needed to grow up with Mabel. Eventually, they beat Bill, and Mayor Tyler passed the "Never Mind All That" Act (So technically, Dipper is now a criminal. At least in Gravity Falls). After Weirdmageddon, Dipper started his own journal. It turns out Wendy's hat used to be Dipper's, but they switched hats at the end of the Summer.
It's all very confusing, but I get the gist.
"Wow," I say, "You and Mabel really have been through a lot."
"Yeah, you too. A Hydra? Can't their heads grow back or something?"
"Yeah"
"Huh, you know, we'd make a great team. Mabel, the enthusiast. You, the muscle. Me, the brains, Pacifica, the rich girl."
"Hey! Pacifica is more than just the 'rich girl'," I protest, using air quotes, "And I wanna be the brains! Child of Athena, remember?"
"Fine. We'll work on that tomorrow. It's midnight, so I should really get back to the Shack."
"Oh, yeah, I was going to ask you... What are you doing here? In the middle of the night?" I ask.
"I was looking for creatures to document. Gravity Falls is full of secrets." he says, "Its strange properties attract supernatural activity."
"Maybe that's what brought me here."
"Yeah, maybe. Well, goodnight, Izzy."
"Night, Dip."
