Once we finish eating our tacos, Pacifica and I go home. Well, her home, in the least. I decide to unpack. While I unpack, Pacifica knocks on the door lightly.

"Come in," I say.

"Uh, hey. Are you settling in okay?"

"Yeah. I'm glad your parents invited me."

"Well, b-before you meet them, I should give you a heads-up. They aren't very... well, r-real. I-I mean, they're real, but they're not real, you know?" she stutters.

"I know what you mean." I say quietly. And I mean it. Ironically, Athena, being the goddess of wisdom, is not exactly... Open-minded. When she found out Percy and Annabeth were an item, she tried to declare war on Poseidon, claiming Percy wasn't good or smart enough for her daughter. Eventually, she cooled down, but not for a while.

"Wait, really?" says Pacifica with a look of surprise on her face. "I thought your dad..."

"Yeah, he did die, but I'm talking about my mom."

Now she looks shocked. "But... didn't your mom die, too?"

"Pacifica, I'm going to let you in on a secret. My mom's not dead. She lives in... Greece. But she hasn't talked to me in two years."

"Is that what you meant when you said 'Trust me. You don't know what my life has been like for the past two years'?"

"Yeah. A lot has changed for me."

"Me too. As you most likely remember from when we were four, I was a spoiled little monster. But like Mabel said, we've been through a lot. I changed. And it was all because of a golf war and a car taco."
