“They're coming!” Whisper-shouts Paz, who’s looking through the Mystery Shack's window at the Pines twins. They're carrying a tiny piñata we made them pick up from a little store as a diversion. It was my idea. I chuckle.

We all hide behind some form of furniture. Soos doesn't seem to find anything to hide behind, so he simply puts a lampshade on his head. Melody giggles and does the same.

Dipper opens the door and walks in. Mabel follows.

“SURPRIS--” I start to jump from behind the recliner. That's when, too late, I notice my leg. It's entangled in the dinosaur skull that Stan uses as a table. Smooth, Isabelle. Reeeaaalll smooth.

A wave of searing pain runs through me. My ankle is bent at an awkward angle. I cringe, and not only at the pain. I probably look so stupid! I curse in ancient Greek.

“I'm fine.” I mumble as everyone surrounds me. Seriously? Couldn't some monster come instead of this? What did I do? Why am I being punished?

“You're definitely not fine.” Says Ford. He sighs. “Stan, you need to get rid of that.” He says, pointing at the skull. “Mabel, get my first aid kit. Dipper, stay with Isabelle. I'll get the ambrosia.”

Stan attempts to pick up the skull. “A little help?” He says to Soos. Soos immediately rushes to Stan's side.

The smoke alarm blares. Wendy groans. “Shiiiiit. I forgot about the muffins!” She and Melody leave just as the sprinkler heads activate.

“MY MAKEUP!” Shriek Candy, Grenda, and Pacifica simultaneously. They take cover upstairs.

Waddles grunts and walks outside…

Leaving me and Dipper alone.

“Sooo… How's life?” Asks Dipper, rubbing his neck awkwardly.

“Just peachy.” I mumble.

We're both drenched. The plush carpeting and furniture is probably ruined. Much like Mabel and Dipper's birthday party. I sigh.

“And that's how you ruin you're best friends’ birthday.” I say miserably.

“Hey, it's not all bad.” He says.

“Really? Because I made it so everything is drenched, Stan has to get rid of his dinosaur skull, Pacifica, Candy, and Grenda’s makeup is running, Wendy and Melody's muffins are charred to a crisp, Mabel and Ford are looking for items to heal me, Waddles doesn’t even want to be around, and you're stuck with me.” Then I realize something that surprises the crap out of me. I'm crying. Why am I crying?

“Whoa whoa whoa. Stop right there. We’ve been trying to get Stan to get rid of that thing forever. Wendy always burns her muffins. Therefore, the furniture is always drenched. It just hadn't happened this summer. Not to be a jerk or whatever, but Candy, Grenda and Pacifica are too obsessed with their makeup. Mabel and Ford are always trying to help people. Waddles is always outside. And I'm not stuck with you. I actually really like hanging out with you.”

I manage a tiny smile. “Do you really mean it?” I ask, my voice hoarse.

He smiles and nods. “I really mean it.”

“Thanks.” I say, barely audible.

“Any time, Carter. Any time.”

A/N: Yeesh, how long has it been since I've updated? Sorry, I just started high school, and let me just say... AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
