When we get back to the mansion, I notice all my new stuff has been put away. I shrug and grab my backpack. I put in my drachma stash, some band-aids, 2 bottles of water, my canteen of nectar, and ambrosia, along with a blanket. I walk to Pacifica's room and knock.
"Hey, Paz?"
"Come in."
With a start, I realize that I've never been into her room. The walls are a light violet color. The carpet is a slightly darker purple. There are shelves bursting with makeup and perfume bottles. Her bed is strewn with teen magazines. It reminds me of the Aphrodite cabin.
Pacifica is sitting at a vanity table, brushing her long blonde hair. She isn't wearing any makeup, so she looks more innocent.
"I'm going to talk to my sister about this afternoon's... events. Do you want to come?" I ask.
"Sure, let me just put on some makeup."
"That won't be necessary."
"Fine..."
We walk out of her room. She's about to slide down the banister.
"Pacifica, you do realize we're going out the window, right?" I ask, smiling.
"W-what? Are you insane?"
"Probably... let's go!"
Pacifica is surprisingly good at climbing out of windows from 2 stories up. She only slips once, and I catch her. She escapes with only a slightly scraped knee.
I hand her a band-aid from my backpack.
"Thanks."
"Don't mention it. Come on, it's not that far a walk."
When we get to the waterfall, I toss in a drachma.
"Oh Iris, please accept this offering. Show me Annabeth Chase." I say.
The mist shimmers, but nothing happens. Annabeth is probably sleeping or something. Oh, well. Time for plan B.
"Looks like we'll have to call Percy instead."
"Percy?" She asks.
"Annabeth's boyfriend, son of Poseidon, saved the world, blah blah blah. Nothing special." I say. But the heat rushes up to my face before I can stop it...
"Izzy?" Pacifica says.
"Y-yeah?"
"Are you... blushing?" She teases.
"Of course not!" I say, my voice shrill.
"Hmm... are you sure?"
"PACIFICA!"
"Fine, fine. I won't say anything about your crush on your sister's boyfriend."
"AUUGH!"
"O-KAY!" She says, laughing at my reaction.
Probably still blushing, I toss another drachma into the mist and say, "Oh Iris, please accept this offering. Show me Percy Jackson."
The mist shimmers, and this time I see Percy.
"Hey Percy."
"Oh, hey Isabelle. How's Oregon?"
"Good. This is my cousin, Pacifica." I say, gesturing at her.
"Hi," he says, "I'm Percy."
"Percy?" I say.
"Yeah?" He replies.
"She knows. Gods, Seaweed Brain. You're clueless." I say, shaking my head in mock disappointment.
"Ha. Sorry."
"Anyway, we Iris Messaged you for a reason." I say.
"What is it?"
"Are you familiar with the demon Bill Cipher?"
"No, why?"
"Okay, next question."
"Wait, who's Bi--"
"Are you familiar with Gaea?"
He freezes. His face goes pale. "Isabelle, I wouldn't get involved with Gaea. She's... How do I explain this?"
"It's okay. I know."
"Who's Bill Cipher?"
"Well, he caused the apocalypse for Gravity Falls. A dream demon. Probably has the same abilities as Hypnos, but evil."
Pacifica cuts in and says "He made my family less rich! Not that I'm complaining."
"Anyway," I say, "He appeared to us this afternoon. He said something about Gaea being his patron. He said she needed me for some reason."
Percy puts on a perfect poker face, then disconnects the Iris Message.
"Well, this sucks." I say.
"This has been weird." Says Pacifica.
"Yup."
We start to walk back to the mansion when we see Dipper mumbling to himself on a rock.
"Gnomes... No, too silly. Maybe the ghost. No, too cute. It had to be small, or invisible. Maybe the fairies."
"What are you talking about, Dipshit?" Says Pacifica.
"Someone, or something, left a tiny knife in my arm!" He says, showing us his tiny wound.
I hand him a band-aid. "So?" I ask, laughing slightly at his paranoia.
"I want to document it, of course!" He says, putting on the band-aid.
"Well, I don't rely on sleep anyway... Let's go document that creature."
