A year later, Mabel, Pacifica, and the rest of the cheerleaders  are waving their pom-poms around, trying to engage the student body in cheering for the football team. Unfortunately, all 200 of the students at our school are too busy on their phones to care about how much effort Mabel and Paz put into the homecoming rally.

“Come on, guys! Homecoming is tonight!” Says an exasperated Mabel into her megaphone. Over the course of one year, she got her braces removed, grew 3 inches (now she and Dipper are 2 inches taller than me), and got a pink streak in her hair.

“You guys are lame! Show your GFHS spirit!” shouts Paz into the megaphone. “Go beavers?” she adds weakly. “Anyone? No?” Pacifica has also changed a bit. She cut off a lot of her long blond hair, leaving it up to her shoulders, and she has a purple streak. When her parents finally noticed her hair a few days after she’d gotten it done, they freaked out and almost made her take it out. They let her keep it after we told them more girls with colored streaks were winning pageants than girls with natural-looking hair (which was a lie).

In support of our friends, Wendy (now a senior), Dipper, and I emit a weak cheer from our seats in the lower section of the bleachers.

Grenda is with the Lady Beavers, the women’s football team. She is the quarterback, and the star player. Candy is with the choir, playing the piano. She is truly the next Mozart. Dipper and I have our own extracurricular activities-- monster hunting. It’s gotten us in trouble quite a few times, but I like it because it keeps me busy. Or at least busy enough to forget my feelings for Dipper, even if it's only for a while.

Going back to Camp Half-Blood last summer was, for the first time, painful. Annabeth and Percy were gone. I'd never really gotten close to my other siblings, but I mostly stayed around my brother Malcolm. It wasn't the same. And I missed everyone from Gravity Falls, fueling the pain.

“Whelp, this is getting boring.” Says Wendy, interrupting my thoughts. “Let's go do something fun.” She offers me her hand. I take it and stand up.

“Should we be worried about getting caught ditching?” I ask, only half-concerned.

“Nah,” she says, brushing it off. “The entire staff is in the teacher's’ lounge watching Baby Fights.”

“Isn't that show outlawed?”

“Yup.”

“How did you even know what they're doing?”

“I sort of… May have… Put the entire Baby Fights DVD collection in my English teacher's mailbox.”

“Okay, first of all, how did you get your teacher's address? Second of all, why am I not surprised?”

She shrugs. “I have my ways.”

“Fair enough. You coming, Dip?”

“Sure. It's not like I'd be missing anything.” He says, gesturing at the struggling cheer squad.

We follow Wendy to the cafeteria. She casually walks in, as if it was normal to be walking in the cafeteria during a rally.

“Gretchen, hey. How's the nephew? Oh, hi Linda, love what you've done with your hairnet. Susan, gurl, we need you to hook us up with some PB&J, please.”

Wow. I'm impressed. Wendy really knows her way around.

“Here you go, honey.” Says Linda, handing her a paper bag. She winks and says, “Now don't forget to bring the… Stuff… Next week.”

“Thanks, guys. I won't let ya down.”

We walk out, and Wendy hands me the bag. I open it. Inside, there's 3 sandwiches and 3 ice-cold apple juice boxes.
