"...And as always, stay out of trouble. We'll be back in a week." finishes my uncle. Pacifica and I have grown used to Preston and Priscilla's constant absence. We've agreed to get our own place as soon as Pacifica turns 18 in 2 years. I'll be 17 and a half, since Paz is 6 months older than me. And when I turn 18, I'll inherit the money my dad had been saving "in case of an emergency" so we won't have to rely on Pacifica's parents anymore. It's not much, but it's enough to keep us stable until we get a job.

"Be sure to get plenty of sleep, and don't stress over schoolwork. It'll give you worry lines." says my aunt as they drive away. "That goes for both of you!"

We go inside and Pacifica grabs 2 greek yogurts from the fridge. A Key Lime Crunch for her and a Sriracha Mango for me. We head upstairs to finish our homework.

"'Don't stress over schoolwork'! Can you believe her? I intend to be someone in life. I can't do that unless I try in school." rants Pacifica.

"We're totally staying up all night to watch horror movies, aren't we?" I say, making it sound more like a statement than a question.

"Yup," she says just as her cell phone rings (I've always loved her ringtone. It's a recording of herself, Mabel, Candy, Grenda, Dipper, and me screaming "RING RING!" at the top of our lungs).

Pacifica puts it on speaker. "Hello?"

"Pacifica! Go to the Shack. Soos says it's an emergency! We're on our way."

"And I'M DRIVING!" Dipper says proudly. He got his learner's permit yesterday. Pacifica got hers last week.

"We get it!" Mabel, Paz, and I deadpan.

"We'll be there in 5." says Pacifica before hanging up. We race to the spacious garage. We slip past the red Camaro, the black Porsche, and the blue Ferrari to Pacifica's little white Fiat.

"Step on it!" I say. Pierce The Veil blares in the speakers as we zoom past the blurry landscape of Gravity Falls.

We arrive at the Mystery Shack in due time. The twins' gray Altima is already parked outside next to Soos's green minivan. We waste no time in bursting inside.

Everyone is in the living room. A whiteboard covered with a sheet is propped on an easel in front of the ancient T.V. While Mabel tries to start a video call with Stan and Ford on Dipper's laptop, Soos makes room for Pacifica and me on the carpet.

"What's goin' on?" asks Stan from the laptop.

"We're at war." says Soos gravely.

My first thought is Bill. But how is he back... Again? I instantly attempt to put together theories of how he reformed. I thought I killed him... Weren't my incantations effective? How many times are we going to have to defeat him?

It's deathly quiet. Soos pulls the sheet from the whiteboard. Sure enough, a triangle adorns the whiteboard.

Except... It's a slice of pie.

The words "Pie Eating Contest in California" are scrawled underneath. Below that, it reads "BEAT HIGH SCHOOL RIVAL AT ALL COSTS".

Everyone groans. I facepalm.

"Soos, you idiot!" says Stan.

"Don't scare us like that again. Please don't make any more unscheduled calls unless it's absolutely necessary. We're busy, you know. It's bad enough that Stan slacks off all the time. We don't need any more distractions."

"Hey! I don't sla--" begins Stan, but he doesn't get to finish because the call disconnects.

"Wait..." says Candy. "Does this mean we're going to California?"
