Demigod Falls {Completed}

CH. 29

When I wake up, I surprisingly don't feel weak at all. In fact, I feel stronger than I've ever been.

There's just one problem...

Why is there a sheet covering my whole body and my face? Why am I in the hospital? And why is everyone leaving while crying?!

"Ahem?" I say, clearing my throat.

Everyone (everyone being the entire Pines family, Pacifica, Candy, Grenda, Soos, Melody, and Wendy) turns around in surprise. There's a moment of silence in which they're trying to decide if I'm real or not.

"YOU'RE ALIVE!!" Screams Mabel, breaking the silence.

"Uh... Well, yeah. Am I supposed to be dead?" I joke.

"Actually, yes." Says Ford. "You were dead a second ago."

My face must have shown complete and utter shock, because Dipper shoots him an annoyed look.

"You hadn't gone back to Pacifica's house a few nights ago, so we got worried and looked for you. Eventually, we found you deep in the woods. You were bleeding and passed out. We couldn't feel a pulse. We fed you some nectar and ambrosia, but you didn't respond. So we had to risk taking you to the hospital. You were here in the ICU for a few days until... you died." Says Dipper.

"We have a strong suspicion of who did this to you." Says Pacifica. "William Rephic."

"Yes and no." I say. I tell them the story, beginning with the car accident. How Bill and I made a deal. How he tricked me. How I defeated him. How I transported to Greece, fought giants, escaped Gaea, and saved Larry all in one night.

"I knew there was something off about him!" Exclaims Dipper.

Mabel looks at him as if to say, now's not the time.

"Right. Sorry." Says Dipper, blushing slightly.

"Soooo... Are we going to stay in the hospital all month, or are we going to enjoy the last few weeks of Summer?" I say.

The ride back to Paz's house is pretty short. I'm pretty disappointed when we arrive.

"Izzy, can I have a quick word?" Says Dipper.

"Uh... sure." I say. I'm kind of nervous since all he does is lecture me.

We walk a short distance away.

"Look. From now on, let's be totally honest with each other. We trust each other no matter what. Got it?" He says.

"Yeah. All lying has done is cause trouble. So I guess I might as well tell you something I've been hiding for a while. I've been hiding it from everyone. Even me." I say. Am I actually going to admit this?

"What is it?"

"I-- I'm staying. I'm going to move here. I'll spend summers at Camp Half-Blood, but I'm going to school here. It's time to face the world."

I shut my eyes and wait for his reaction. What if he thinks I've endangered his family enough already? What if he wants me as far away from them as possible?

But when I open my eyes, he's grinning.

"That's great! I thought we were going to be doomed to boredom forever!" He says.

"You mean it? You want me to stay?"

"Obviously!"

The next thing I know, I'm hugging him. I don't know what made me do it, but it's not like I can take it back.

When we pull away, he says "Mason."

"What?" I reply, puzzled.

"It's my real name. Dipper is just a nickname. I thought since there's no more secrets, I should have told you. Just... Don't tell anyone. I'll tell everyone when I'm ready." He says, blushing.

"You got it, dude." I say with a chuckle.

"I have to go." He says, gesturing at the beeping Stanley Mobile.

"See ya around, Mason." I say, punching his arm lightly.

"Bye, Addie."

I freeze. How the Hades does he know my middle name!? I look at my hospital bracelet. It reads "Isabelle Adelaide Carter."

I open my mouth to speak, but by then, he's gone. Well played, Mason. Well played.
