A few weeks later, Pacifica and I are on our way back to the Mystery Shack. This has become the new routine. Paz and I spend the day in the Shack with everyone else, mostly on the roof. At night we all go look for creatures and magical plants to document. Sometimes, if we're lucky, we'll find the occasional creature in the daytime. Once we've found out their secrets, we release them.
I haven't been able to reach Camp Half Blood since that night in the woods with Dipper and Pacifica. I'm starting to get a bit worried. Being cut off from Camp is strange.
Fortunately, I have other things to worry about. Such as my snobby aunt and uncle. Even though they've only been here about 3 times in the last 2 weeks, they've already signed Pacifica up for 15 summer beauty pageants and counting. It's amazing to think my dad was related to these people, even if he was Pacifica's mom's brother. Gods, I miss him.
Today, Soos is holding the Mystery Carnival. Pacifica has her heart set on winning a pig. She was going to try last year, but her parents found her and dragged her away. Since they're on "business" this summer, Paz plans on secretly keeping the pig in her room.
"It's not like they'll notice." She keeps saying.
Dipper plans on winning 6 tickets to a Peirce the Veil concert at a bottle toss booth. Apparently they'll be in Gravity Falls sometime in August.
Mabel, Candy, and Grenda are going to run their own makeover booth, with the supervision of Soos's fiancé, Melody.
"Just so you girls don't get too inappropriate. Other than that I'll stay out of your way," she told them.
But me? I have nothing to do, unless I want to tag along with Pacifica or Dipper, or get a makeover from Mabel, Candy, and Grenda.
"Are you sure you'll be okay on your own?" Asks Pacifica when we get there.
"Of course, mom."
"Alright, I just wanted to be a good cousin." Says Paz defensively.
"You are a good cousin. Most of the time." I say.
"Oh, stop, you're making me blush." She says sarcastically.
Laughing, I shove her to the old guy in the stereotypical carny outfit and walk away.
"Bring home some bacon!" I call over my shoulder.
"That's actually a nice name for a pig!" she yells back.
Now time to get down to business. I go to the waterfall and make sure no one is around before tossing in a drachma. Please pick up please pick up please pick up.
The rainbow shimmers, and Annabeth appears. She seems to have been expecting me to call, because she is already facing me. Her silver eyes, just like mine, are a dark stormy shade. This can only mean one thing-- she's not in a good mood.
"Hey Izzy. Sorry. I know, you haven't been in contact with camp. You must have been worried."
"Ya think?" I say, trying my luck with her stormy mood. Fortunately, she raises an eyebrow but decides to ignore the the comment.
"Chiron placed some sort of... Spell on Iris Messages so that no one inside camp could send or receive them. He just took it down today."
"Wait. Why would he block people out?"
She takes a shaky breath and blinks back a few tears before saying, "We just got 3 new campers. Piper, daughter of Aphrodite, and Leo, son of Hephaestus."
"That's great!" I say, puzzled at why she'd be so upset. "But that's only 2."
"We've also been informed of a Roman demigod camp in California..."
"What?" I say, shocked.
"That's where Jason comes in. He's a son of Jupiter, the Roman version of Zeus."
"What?" I repeat.
"Izzy... I think it would be best for you to stay out of contact with us for a bit."
"What's going on?!" I say, on the verge of tears.
"It's Percy..." She says, letting the tears roll down her cheeks. "Izzy, Percy's gone missing."
A/N: I found time to update! And yeah, huge plot twist, I know.
