Please work. I toss a drachma into the mist of the waterfall. I need to talk to Annabeth about staying in Gravity Falls.
After a moment of anticipation, the mist shimmers and I see Annabeth typing and clicking away on her Daedalus laptop. She's in some sort of dorm, and it occasionally rocks slightly. She must be on her giant flying ship. When she finally looks up, she jumps a little, then gives me a forced smile.
“Izzy, hey. Sorry about not being in touch, there's just… A lot going on.”
“It's okay. I know about your quest.”
She looks surprised. “You do?”
“Long story. Let's just say one of Gaea’s pawns showed me a vision of your flying ship.”
“That,” she says, “would be the Argo II.”
I smile a bit. Then I get back to business. “I called to give you some information, a warning, and a decision of mine.”
She nods.
“Okay. First off, you've got a new camper. His name is Larry Perez, he's 12, and he's a child of Apollo. I personally escorted him to camp about a week ago.”
She seems confused. “But you're in Gravity Springs, right?” Says Annabeth. I find myself smiling, remembering simpler times.
“Gravity Falls, and yes, I am.”
“Then how did you...?”
“I guess if I say a Greek incantation, I can defeat demon Doritos and teleport.”
She looks utterly bewildered, and I can't help but smile again.
“Again, it's a long story. Now, as for the warning. All Gaea needs to awaken is the blood of both a female and a male demigod. She tried using mine and Larry's, but we escaped.”
At this point, Annabeth’s mouth is gaping wide open.
“Yeah, yeah, I know, it's impossible for me to know this much, especially since I've been ‘out of touch’. Just go with it.”
Annabeth seems to get over her shock. She blinks, clears her throat, and with a nod, says, “Right. Sorry. Uh, what was your decision?”
“I'm not going to be a year-rounder anymore. I'm moving in with Pacifica and my Aunt and Uncle. I'll go back to camp in the summer, and I'll Iris message you whenever possible.”
Annabeth looks skeptical. “Are you sure? It's a huge change. And monsters are going to constantly follow you. It's exhausting.”
“Yeah, but I'm willing to take that risk.”
Annabeth sighs, and her expression becomes considerably softer. “I'll miss you.”
I start to tear up a bit. “I'll miss you too.” I seriously feel like hugging her, but I can't since it's just an Iris message.
The moment is cut short by someone singing, or rather screaming, “GOTTA KILL ‘EM ALL!”
“Is that Gleeson?” I ask.
She smiles slightly and nods.
I assume someone tried to interrupt Hedge, because I can hear his shouts of “DEAL WITH IT, CUPCAKE!” from here.
“I'd better go. See you next summer.” I say sadly.
“Assuming I live that long.” She says.
“You will.” I assure her.
She smiles. “Take care of yourself, Izzy.”
I nod and disconnect the call, but not before hearing Hedge shout “DIE!”
I'm really going to miss Camp Half-Blood.
A/N: Hey guys! Long time no see! How are your entries for the contest going? So far, I've only made 2 contestant covers (this sounds sad!), so I decided to stretch the deadline to September 1st, 2016. Again, good luck, and I hope to see your entries soon!
