Demigod Falls {Completed}

CH. 33

Once we dry everything (including ourselves) off, buy a new cake, and take care of my stupid ankle, we go outside. We spray silly string on each other until everyone is completely covered, and then we're all on the ground laughing.

I sigh. I'm really going to miss Dipper and Mabel when they have to go back to Piedmont later. It's funny. I hadn't actually realized that it's the end of summer. It went by so fast!

Mabel must've noticed my sudden mood change, because she gets looks at me, concerned.

"What's wrong? Aren't you having fun?" She asks, her eyebrows slightly furrowed.

"Of course I am!" I reply. "It's just... I just realized it's the end of summer already and that you have to leave soon."

She cringes. "We didn't want to remind anyone that we were leaving. We kind of just wanted to leave silently."

"Oh..." I say. We just stand there in silence, Mabel looking guilty. "Mabel, it's okay. It's not your fault. I'm not mad, or whatever." I reassure her.

She gives me small, relieved smile. Just then, her phone chimes. She reads the text, and her eyes dilate a great deal.

"Um, excuse me, I'd better reply to this!" She squeaks urgently, her eyes still wide. She brushes past me and into the shack, taking a very confused Dipper with her.

About 5 minutes later, they both go about their normal activities. But they look suspicious...

"Kids I've been stuck with all summer, it's time for cake!" Shouts Stan.

"Oh, Stan, you love us!" Says Mabel to her Grunkle.

"Yeah, I really do, kiddo." He says.

We all sing Happy Birthday to the twins. Once we all have a piece of cake in our hands, Mabel and Dipper give each other a look. Mabel nods.

"We have an announcement to make." Says Dipper.

"It has been brought to our attention that..." Says Mabel.

Together, the twins say "WE'RE STAYING IN GRAVITY FALLS!"

"Permanently!" Adds Mabel.

First, there's complete silence. But then we all run to them and envelope them in a giant group hug.

"Our parents bought a house in the area." Says Dipper.

"So you guys are stuck with us." Says Mabel, giggling.

I guess it's my turn to say I'm staying, too. Dipper catches my eye. He gives me an encouraging look. Gods, sometimes I wonder if he can read my mind.

I take a deep breath of the refreshing, pine-scented Oregon air I've come to love. The air of my new home.

"Um, I also have something to say. I'm staying too."

I got an extremely similar reaction to Dipper and Mabel.

Yeesh, I can hardly breathe.

"Well, I wish we could stay, too. But unfortunately, Stanley and I must go back to hunting down the monsters at sea." Says Ford.

"Yeah, I've been getting these weird signals in the Bermuda triangle." Says Stan.

"Oh, that's the Sea of Monsters. Plenty of the supernatural to keep you busy for the rest of your lives." I say.

The elder Mystery Twins give me blank looks.

"Never mind." I say.

"We have news, too!" Says Soos.

"We're adopting a boy!" Says Melody, beaming. "His name is Larry Perez."

"Well, now his name is Larry Ramirez." Interrupts Soos.

Melody shoots him a look of fake annoyance, then continues.

"He's 12, and he's arriving tomorrow!"

I smile. When did this happen? Oh, nevermind that. Larry is getting adopted by good people, and that's all that matters.

What a perfect end to a perfect summer.

A/N: Hey, guys! I was planning to post this chapter on Wednesday (Happy Early Birthday to Dipper and Mabel!), but my tablet's currently "confiscated" and I don't know when I'll have another chance to update.
