In this section of the story/show Dr. Markus goes to Dr. Fields in hopes of gaining his files on Ben, Ricky, and Leo.  When Dr. Fields ask him why he would need the files he let's them know that he is treating Ben, and that what he is treating him for is private.  Dr. Fields is offended by his actions, because he believes that Dave is trying to imply that he is a bad therapist, and couldn't treat Ben.  Dave however is being very serious, Ben's other therapist needed those files because he believed that it would help him gain a better perspective on Ben's case.  Dr. Fields is angry about the situation, and asks him to leave.

Ken is angry and goes to Los Angeles to speak with his son Jason to give him some clarity on the situation.  However when he arrives, Jason does not give him the clarity he wanted to see.  Jason since graduating High School went to Yale University, and graduated Magna Cum Laud.  He then went to Princeton Medical School where he graduated with a degree in Psychology with a concentration in Child Psychology at the age of 26, and was accepted into an LA practice where he helped at risk kids deal with problems who would usually be lost in the judicial system.

Ken tried to explain to his son that Dave was only using the situation he was treating for Ben as an excuse to insinuate that he was a bad therapist that couldn't help Ben.  He felt he did that in order to get revenge against him, for ruining his marriage to Sasha.  However Jason doesn't agree with his father.  He let's his father know that Dave is now happily married to the mother of a former patient who he helped deal with the divorce of his parent's, and accept his father's homosexuality.  He also explains to his dad, that both he and Lauren never stopped being in contact with Dave.  His father is shocked to hear this, but Jason explains to him that he and Lauren both thought how he and his mother treated Dave was wrong.  He explains to his father that although he was their father, he believed Dave did have a right to be part of discussions that involved either he or his sister.

Ken is angry at hearing this, however Jason forces him to realize that as a therapist even he had to admit that when he and his mom got divorced and she married Dave, they all had to become a parental unit.  But both he and his mother let their own bitterness, and petty rivalry blind them to that fact.  He also forced him to realize that neither he or his mother now his father's wife once again, didn't really try to save their first marriage.  Dave didn't realize this and his mother convinced him, that she really was in love with him, and ready to start a life with him.  He also forces his father to realize that their situation mimicked the Ben/Amy/Ricky and John situation.   Both sets of parents refused to think about the other person involved.  Just as he and his wife refused to admit David was part of their situation that they created, Amy and Ricky did the same to Ben.  The only difference Amy/Ricky were too young, selfish, and immature to realize what they were doing to Ben was wrong.  But his parent's were old enough, and mature to recognize that they didn't give Dave the respect, and recognition he deserved .

Ken however still feels that Dave was insinuating that he was a bad therapist, and didn't try to help Ben.  Jason let's his father know that Dave wasn't trying to do that, and that he always was professional when dealing with his clients.  It's why he refused to give in to his feelings for his wife when he first started seeing her son.  He also let's him know that he developed those feelings while he was still married to his mother.  When Ken asks his son how he knows this Jason informs him that Dave had always been honest, and upfront with both he and Lauren from the moment he was introduced to them.  Jason also let's him know that he and Lauren really liked that about him, he didn't treat them as if they were kids or adults, but he did treat them with respect.

Ken then asks a very difficult question and asks Jason if he thinks that he was being a bad therapist when he treated Ben.  Jason regretfully tells his father yes.  He believes that in a professional manner his father should have never started treating Ben at all.  He let's his father know he thinks that he let his ego, cloud his better judgement.  When Ken asks why he believes this, Jason reminds him that he was Ricky's therapist for nearly three years, and he had become Leo's therapist.  He reminded his father that is foolish to treat people so closely connected to one another with so many inter-connecting problems.  Ken is offended that Jason would think he didn't give Ben his best.  Jason reminds his father that any therapist who deals with two people who both have problems with the same person would become bias toward that person, because they would treat them with knowledge that other's have given of them.  Ken is ready to argue against this, but Jason calms him down and reminds him that if he was as good of a therapist as he claimed he would have realized that Ricky was the problem not Ben.
