Even though Ben was angry with 3-Jay, and Vincent about their confrontation with both Omar, and Ricky as well as Henry and Alice he was forgiving considering all of them had been caught off guard. When all three went to pick up Sarah, Betty informed them of her own confrontation with Leo. Ben apologized to her about placing her in the center of the situation, but Betty assured him it was not his fault and she put herself in the situation. Ben still felt bad, that she had to tell Leo about her secret involvement in his life. Even though all of them were off put about what had transpired between all of them that day it all disappeared when Sarah came into the room. She was truly a unique child who just had a way to make everyone forget their problems. She immediately forced them all to sit down with her, and have a tea party. The one thing about Sarah, she somehow had a mysterious British personality that was very strict at tea party's.
When they all found out that Zoey had decided they go to the New Years Eve Ball, Vincent and 3-Jay were immediately on board as an excuse to go out with Lauren and Clementine again. Sarah wanted to go because she wanted to go to a ball, and get a new dress. Betty already had plans with her new boyfriend, but she encouraged Ben to go, if only to satisfy Sarah. All of them wanted Ben to go, because they all hoped Ben would stop spending so much time avoiding life. The anniversary of Claire's death was literally around the corner, and they wanted some way to distract him. Ben reluctantly gave in to their prodding if only to get them to leave him alone, and satisfy his daughter's plea's, or in Sarah's case her PLEAEEEESE.
However there was still a bit of drama when Ben accidentally ran into Anne, Cindy, Margaret, Rev. Sherman, and Kathleen Jeurgens at the clothing store. All were surprised to see Ben in the women's part of the store, then they all noticed Sarah, with him. Sarah was not wearing a dress that looked good on her, which was weird considering she was a very beautiful young girl. As they were picking out dresses, Cindy who had an eye for fashion along with the rest asked Ben if he would like help.
Cindy: Ben would you like some help picking out something for your daughter.
Ben: No thank you, I think we'll just figure it out.
Anne: Ben please. We are all women, and between the five of us, we can find something to match Sarah, we all did dress girls.
Ben: Like I said, I appreciate the offer but no thank you.
Cindy: Ben come on you and I were family once upon a time. I once even imagined doing this for Mercy one day.
Ben: (that phrase upset him) Mrs. Enriquez.
Sarah: Daddy how does she know my sister?
Ben: She doesn't really baby. She's Mrs. Sherman's mom.
Sarah: Does that make her Mercey's grandma.
Ben: No. It just makes her Mrs. Sherman's mom.
Cindy: (upset at what Ben said) Ben!?!?
Ben: Baby, could you go pick out another dress for a moment.
Sarah: But....
Ben: Sarah... (looks hard at her making her understand to do as she was told)
Sarah: Okay. (quickly goes back to browsing as Ben remotely turns down her hearing aid on his watch)
Cindy: Ben how could you say that, I WAS Mercey's grandmother.
Ben: With all due respect Mrs. Enriquez, of all people I would think you would be relieved to not be related to any of my daughter's. As for your help I don't need it.
